Forums - Gaming - Would it be wise for MS to emulate the practice of acquiring desirable games like Sony this late in the gen?

Well they do have existing IP that can be rebooted.

I mean they technically could make a Banjo or Conker games thats as ambitious as Mario Odyssey.

Perfect Dark could become a modern shooter, maybe like Uncharted or Deus Ex.

They could turn Battletoads into some sort Bayonetta or God of War clone.

I'd like to see Fable 4 be an open world game like Witcher 3 but with British wit.

Maybe they can try taking Ryse again or clone it for a Darksouls style game with broader appeal.

Maybe they could turn Scalebound into a real game.

There is money and IPs at MS, but not enough risk taking I guess. I really feel like this next E3 shows where MS stands on creating new games. I still enjoy their main IPs but they should do more or theyre wasting a viable audience.

They can't. Have you forgotten Tomb raider already?

Besides, Sony only did that at the beggining of the PS one era. Dunno if you can call it a Sony practice alone.

Anyways, sure, they can maybe do it at the beggining of a new gen, but it's impossible now. I don't think theres enough money MS can offer to make up for PS4 sales of a game. Only small studios would agree to that at this point.

Exactly, we already know what's coming in 2018, MS needs to show people what they'll have in store for xbox in 2019 and beyond.

"lupus in fabula, venit enim ad me."

Translation: I will always hate Fox for canceling The Exorcist.

At this point I don't think anyone can give the XBOX division advice for this gen. They're in a very odd position of their own design. It feels like they're trying nearly anything and everything to stay relevant...but things just keep backfiring. From my perspective Cuphead & Ori are their only real claims to fame this gen, and you can get them both on Steam.
