What the hell does review score have to do with it being casual or hardcore? Guess we will have to agree to disagree since rock band is a casual game in my book.

Do you own rockband?

Oooh.  This is the part where elnino is all like "Yeah ***** I own Rockband.  My buds and I play it all the time.  So casual."  Then kingofwale is like "Well you and your 'buds' must suck at it because it's really hard when it's on the hard difficulty so it's totally not casual."  elnino is like "No way, difficulty doesn't mean it's hardcore. It's the audience that matters."  Then kingofwale says "Nuh uh."  And elnino says "Yah huh!"  And kingofwale says "Nuh uh."  ....etc.

Would you prefer elnino and I to talk like that for your sake? After all, I wouldn't mind translate it for you. :)

I would consider Rock Band a casual game since everyone can easily play it. I have yet to have any of my friends or family have any issues playing it. Of course they may be playing on easy but the point is everyone has a chance to play it.

the fact that it's easier for newbie to get into doesn't mean it's not a hardcore games. SSBB in my opinion is a hardcore game too that features newbie friendly content. But the in-depth-ness (lack of better word) is what seperate the hardcore games from quick cash-ins.

Rockband: hardcore
hanna Montana: Quick cash in

Also, we don't need to bring up review scores, do we? :)

I forget you only read the first sentence and then comment since I did mentioned I play it with my friends and family though they may do it on easy.  The point is everyone gets to play without needing much instructions.  The singing doesn't even need instructions LOL.  Basically you have to be color blind to have a hard time playing rock band.  Only thing that can be somewhat hard is the drums but even then you still have two guitars and 1 mic that others can jump in and have fun.  Hope that answers your question.

forget the word "casual" and think about "pick up and play" or "games that do not require 1hr long tutorials to learn", or even "don't require you to learn 10 concepts and strategies".

but I believe this has been discussed a thousand times here...

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

When did you mention it again?

To understand why I classified Rockband a "hardcore" game, you really need to own it. the replayability, the depth in its gameplay, + DLC is what makes the game truely a king among other music-game.

Which is why I found it so insulting it was placed along side garbages like Hanna Montana game. It would be like putting Mario Kart with M&M kart.

To me games like Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Hanna Montana, DDR, Wii Sports and some others are the same in that non-gamers will buy a console (usually PS2 or Wii) to play that game ALONE with no initial intention of buying any other game.

That is expanding the market and showing that the mass market can be lucrative as well, not just the core gamer, which is good for all.

The difference between Rock Band and Hanna Montana is that core gamers play RB too.

^That is where i mentioned it.  Just scroll up and you will see it.

I am sure is obvious by now that I own it and just because it has so many feautures doesn't mean it is hardcore when the core elements are casual.  Guess if you play on Hard ot Expert then it is "hardcore" but that is flexbility of the game.  More content or good gameplay does not mean hardcore LOL.  In terms of Hanna all they are saying that both games are fairly easy to pickup and play.  What if Hannah had a expert diffulty with tons of levels etc would it then be hardcore for you or is it literally just because of the name that your whining about.  I get it you don't want a kiddie game with horrible reviews to be compared to a superb game like Rock Band.  Not sure if you seen my post but I been the #1 Rock Band supporter on this site along with rocketpig just in case you may think I am trying to bring Rock Band down.

Hardcores are the ones buying all the games. Casuals while making up a large percentage more buy the established games in droves (Mario/GTA/Madden) but do nothing to help fund the new IP's unless they break through(last IP that I think did that was GOW) to the established rank.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Hell yes we do!

With Core gamers, some many companies and genres would die out!

That would suck big time.
