Well think of it this way.

If All the crappy shovelware was never put onto the system, and we were only left with the fantastic games like galaxy and brawl. People would use the argument. "A higher percentage of Wii games are above the 90% mark, it's software is the best!!!!"

Adding more crap to a library doesn't actually make it bad. Just don't pay attention to the games like petz and dogz and focus on the real stuff.

As it stands there are more games than I have time or money to get. As long as there is always a game I want on the shelf I will be happy and as it stands there are at least 6 I want without thinking.

I believe, Wii audience mainly are casual people + nintendo fans. =)
So you should expect more casual games and more sequels from Nintendo.

Casual stuff probably won`t score high. So, you should wait then mostly high scored games from nintendo.
Anyway, Wii is only 1,5 years out, so time will show. =)

It's strange, because while the Wii has less "good" games, it has several great games that I have actually purchased, while the PS3 has none.

I own a PS3 and a Wii, and while pointing to gamerankings is a common PS3 talking point, when it comes down to the facts, you're selling the consumer that the PS3 has better games than the Wii because of average metacritic scores, that's simply not the case.


The games for the Wii that are great, appeal to virtually everyone, like Galaxy, Zelda, RE4, Brawl, everyone who owns a Wii, at least.

The "good" games on the PS3 certainly don't appeal to everyone, because very few of them appeal to me. In fact, the only reason I've played my PS3 at all, is to justify its purchase. I've never been one for spelunking games, but I bought Uncharted. Never woulda done that on my Wii or PS2.

One of the best "good" games on the PS3 is MLB:08 The Show. Now, it counts towards your list, but man I would never buy a baseball game.

Now, another major flaw in your theory is that those sites don't include "exclusives" which are all important to a library. What if the 360 had GTAIV as an exclusive, how much would that help its library, compared to it just having another AAA multiplat?


Here are my thoughts. I bet that there are no exclusive PS3 games with a 90 or above average on gamerankings. That means, the PS3 has no AAA exclusive games, if its true. Check me on that.

Now, that's the real issue with PS3 sales, imo. If you wanna call that cherrypicking, that's fine. Just know if what I say is cherrypicking, then so that oh so common Sony talking point, the TC revisited. Only this time instead of 80 percent and up, it's for some reason dropped to 75. Must've been easier to contrast against the Dreamcast.


@KoW, the DS, imo, has probably the second greatest library of all time, for a video game console, and I'm not alone. Most people who own one will tell you that the library is as diverse and extensive as you could ever hope to expect on a handheld.

Yeah i just checked out the PS3 on metacrtic and your right. I see where i've gone wrong with my thoughts, i was just abit bewildered scrolling down the list of Wii games and i was just abit like "omg theres not many games in the geen".

I used the Dreamcast because it had about the same games as the Wii and i thought it would be a good comparison from that point and because the console never really took off yet it has more highly reviewed games.

It's interesting though how Nintendo really carries it's own product.
I just think that many third party developers do not want to create big titles for the Wii just like Nintendo does. I still kinda think that Nintendo could do with some 2nd party developers such as Rare again to really improve what they already have.

The average game on Nintendo this gen is blown to bits by the N64 era, which was by far Nintendo's best imo.

I am certain it will. Casula and Non gamers, the Wii's main crowd, will not be bothered or prehaps even aware of such things so it will end up being immaterial. Wii has the price advantage and the 'mother appeal'.

The system will continue to beat the others in sales for atleast the next year.  From the we have seen so far the wii will have less games over 80 then the GC. The wii has 19, the GC has 127, the PS3 has 48, the PS2 had 317 over 80%. The wii will stand out in History but it will be listed as one of the systems with the fewest great games to play. It will never reach the legendary status of any of the Playstation systems for games.
