Forums - Nintendo - WTF!! Edge Mag gives MKWii a Freaking 6/10.

A review site not loving a Nintendo game.... BLASPHEMY! I kid I kid, on a side note, not surprising to me :/ I DESPISED Double Dash, it was the death of the series to me, and when I heard MK Wii wanted to take a similar approach I was sorely disappointed. Maybe the online play hasn't been integrated yet, maybe it had some gameplay hiccups, I'd have to see the review before analyzing it :P

EDGE are tough cr4itics, at least here in England. The last game I remember them giving a 10 was Metroid Prime, I think they even gave ocarina of time an 8 or 9 or something. Oh and I think elite beat agents also got a 10, but I'm not sure.

I don't think Metroid Prime got a 10. Ocarina of time did however. Elite beat agents definately didn't. They have only given out like.....5-6 10s ever I think. I applaud this considering the inflation in review scores. MK DD was absolutely terrible in my view, so EDGE was right about that one. In fact, there is no one i trust more when it comes to reviews.

The fact that a game sells well doesn't make it a good game. I haven't read the review yet so I won't comment on that, seeing that the words are actually more important in an EDGE review than the score at the end. A game can be fun without being very good.

1), 6 bucks for me to tell if a game is bad?

2), beg your friends to buy the game and then let you play it?

3), you think store kiosk will have the newest game on demo all the time?

Reviews (not just video games) have been here for a long time, and they've survived until now for a reason.

 1)  You don't have to rent EVRY game just those you have a high interest in but aren't sure if it is worth buying

2)  I didn't say beg them to buy it, i have many friends and usually someone has a game that i am interested in buying, i didn't say this option applied to everyone, some have little or no friends

3) again not all games but they have some, it is just another possible option

4)  Another option is playing demos not available for all games but yet again a possibilty

If you base what is fun for you by what a reviewer tells you that is your right, i however prefer to think for myself and use reviews as simply getting another pov and not base my opinion on that of others.

Mil. Sellers:

Wii:      25 titles       101.4 mil total    avg 4 mil per title

PS3:     14 titles      28.6 mil total    avg ~2 mil per title

360:     41 titles      89.8 mil total   avg  >2 mil per title

EDGE are just harsh reviewers.

They're not 'Mario Kart' haters, they give plenty of games low scores.

Also, I'm pretty sure that you haven't played the game [OP], maybe it deserves the six that it got, maybe not, but at least wait until the game releases before you scream "bias!".

I think that it's funny that people are getting upset over a review score for a game that hasn't come out yet. I am a Wii owner and fan but who knows? It could be a bad game. I'll reserve my opinions until I play it

And EDGE are definately not Nintendo haters. They love good games, so naturally they love Nintendo.
The top of their '100 greatest games ever'-list was absolutely littered with Nintendo titles. I'm pretty sure Super Mario Kart was up there as well.

They average about -15% or so compared to Metacritic's average scores for Wii games.

A 6 from edge is actually a very good score. Equivalant to say a 90% from Nintendo mags (as if they were gonna critisce it), people shouldnt slam EDGE either, until they have actually read the review, maybe the game deserved a six. Remeber a six to you may mean average, a 6 to edge means above average as in good.

There was already a thread about this...

 Yup.

Also, all three threads should have ended the moment it was pointed out that they gave Mario Kart: Double Dash a 5
