So you don't like Dromarch's character model and design.
There is a big difference between not liking a character, and not liking their model.

You are right, the game is blurry; the game is blurry 100% of the time.
Even at its best it has really blurry textures, something that is not helped with a res boost.
Playing the game is like being stabbed in the eye, still better than the first two games though.

Something you can do to help the low quality textures, is by holding L and pulling back on the right stick.

This will pull the camera away from all the low res assets, but may cause res drops, and does reduce grass draw distance.

The camera and framerate make me want to vomit.

The tutorial system, sucks; the game neither attempts to blend tutorial and gameplay, nor does it do a decent job at what it does give you.
At the very least, they could have Gramps break the fourth wall to deliver the information vocally.
Honestly, who is going to read all the text.
Always try to make learning as friction-less as possible.

Animations are almost exclusively bad, low effort or cheap looking; the game looks like it was budgeted to sell 300k - 1m, whilst making a decent profit.
Occasionally there is a decent animation thrown in there.

Combat, is passively noisy.
I often just leave it to do its own thing, as that seems to be just as effective.
Even whilst writing this post, I am "playing" the game.
I consider it a 3D clicker game; I recommend putting on a podcast or watching anime whist playing the game, switching back for the story beats.

Overall I like the game so far.
They have planted some seeds that I am hoping will pay off in the future.

I know. That's why Sunstrider's comment confuses me. He responded like I was talking about his character, but here's what I said verbatim :

"-Character design for the Tiger is a new level of bad. Holy moly. I've kind of gotten used to Rex but his isn't great either, same with Pyra obviously."

I never mixed up character and character design.

If I recall correctly the battle animations are actually pretty consistently good, though some of them are lazy. I'm gonna get on later today and I'll see then.

Also I can't tell if you're being sarcastic with how negative you're being since you seemed like a huge Xeno fan xD

I like the game, that does not mean I cannot see the flaws.

I mixed up what you said, and what I thought you said about Dromarch.
I didn't re-read that portion of your post, sorry.

Haha no problem lol

That's true what you said about flaws. It's not something that fanbases are often known for though, so that's a good trait to have.

For your third rebuttal I'd say it's blurry almost all the time once the game opens up. I've spent very little time in closed environments after the game opened up so effectively it's extremely blurry all the time. It's a little better in towns, and in the airship dungeon it was ok, but those areas just look ok.

While your forth point does highlight the irony in not understanding a button combination and not liking tutorials, I don't think you've thought about this much. Have you ever asked "why?" for instance. Players wouldn't have to miss out on critical information if tutorials didn't annoy them or come up so often that they just scan through the information. Again while the original Xenoblade wasn't perfect at this, it was better at it I think. It's especially annoying in 2 because it will happen a lot of the times right when you are pumped up and ready to do something awesome. Or the text will waste your time with dialogue like "There is one more mechanic that .... oh what the heck ... we'll talk about that later! Teheheheheeheh"

I like the Tiger's character, I just don't like his design. He has those awkward edges and bad animations. Just eh.

It "looks like" it's "your opinion"? Lol, what else would people be talking about in a thread called "Xenoblade 2 thoughts"

Now just to be clear, I am not disagreeing with you or anything(except for the tiger, his my bro lol), I'm just explaining things like the disengaging and lip sync issue that you might have not yet understood, and I guess for the graphical part, I just thought you got to critical on the looks, now I know it doesn't really change the fact that the game looks like a blurry mess(I guess it's just the "graphics don't matter as long as you're having fun" side of me talking) I only just wan't to share how saw it that it can get clean in some ways, anyways, for the tutorial part I just thought I would share that this is the first JRPG that I've played in a very long time as I got tired of a lot of them(especially "tales of" games) due to the fast paced action type style I guess, but this, this is the first in a very long time that really is pulling me and got me really interested in the story and mechanics of the game, and the tutorial is anything but annoying to me, anyways I guess it's just me sharing my own opinion in the matter, and for the last bit, I didn't actually read most of it lol, yeah so weird for me for stating the obvious.

yeah the systems in this game are almost NES level shit, where you NEED that manual to understand everything. I honestly may grab the official strategy guide for this if i keep struggling. Even fetch quests are tough...I cant find areas.

Care to elaborate? I'm pretty sure that every side quest I've done was easy to do and find, and every combat mechanic was explained in tutorials to advance fairly easy.

Oh that's okay I actually somewhat agree with you, I have way more fun with the game than my criticisms imply. This is a thread about discussing the game though, so when asked to share our thoughts I put a bunch of the complaints I had at the time. What you read through text can never match your actual thoughts, I actual think the game is fairly enjoyable. I don't seem to remember you clarifying anything on the lip-syncing though? So idk what you mean there. Also, I think you might have mixed "tutorial" and "intro". The intro to the game is actually pretty good, it was so cute how Rex dives and comes on the ship and then all the sudden there's a giant enemy crustacean on his ship that he has to fight. It's so silly and "homey" and I thought it was hilarious how it literally introduces you to the game like that xD I also really loved the ship segment. In general I liked the ... "dungeons" the games had so far, though I haven't really played it today so i'm not far.

This is kind of like the first real JRPG i'm getting myself into, if you don't consider dungeon crawlers or strategy games. I've dabbled into the first game and some Final Fantasy's, but for the most part this is my first. I still like it, I just am a very cynical asshole.

Also I agree that graphics rarely bother me enough to affect the game, just think they can be incredibly disappointing at times, but hey i know Monolith can do even better next time!

The lip sync was for the Japanese VO that's why the English VO doesn't match it , or did I misinterpret what you said about it?

I just now found out why my combos were only triggering sometimes (need to be level 2 or up, and you can tell by looking at your npc teamates what level they are at), and as for side quests, there is one where you are to go to a certain location to feed *redacted* and the name of the area is not a landmark on the map. Due to not being able to look at tutorials again (informants supply two lines of information, not the original tutorial), if you miss or misremember anything, you have to either a) look it up, or b) happen upon the mechanic again. Another side quest has you finding who has been sabotaging the *redacted*. However, all you know is they are "by a tree". However, the map has MANY trees, and in addition to that, you can only see these *redacted* at night.

Oh that. Well I mean I know that, that's the case for a lot of japanese entertainment. I just wish that some effort was put into matching it more
