Last gen ps3 gets an F in terms of the money it lost Sony.

This gen in Japan they get an A for profitability. Sony are surely delighted.

There's the goalpost change i was expecting.

It's fact though. We are talking about if sales are good or relevant and important to Sony.

Sony are a business and want profits. This point proves beyond doubt that Japan is very relevant and very important to Sony. Money talks.

Mostly the usual stuff then. "x1 is doing amazing in japan" seems new though :O

He left one thing out

"Switch is eating all the ps4's sales"

I made a thread for this so we can polute the MC thread a little less.

No, you are changing goalposts, you cant keep switching back and forth from hardware sales to developer support to profit and pretend like you are being consistent.

You and I were specifically talking about whether or not hardware sales are amazing, anything other than hardware numbers is irrelevant to what you and i have been talking about.

Hardware sales being amazing is depended on the profit the platform makes. Sony could sell it for $100 make massive loses and sell 10m in no time.

Would sales be amazing? No.

I'm not talking about the middle group. I'm saying that there are 30% using it primarily as a handheld, versus 20% using it primarily as a home console. 30% is 50% more than 20% (20*1.5=30, it is 10 percentage points more, but that isn't the same thing). I made no mention of the 50% group, because we don't have data on the split, other than the difference is smaller than a factor of 4. Hence talking about that group is pure guesswork.

Yes, it competes as a hybrid, because it is a hybrid, but like I said, ofcourse we can still make distinctions about which mode is used the most, and how that affects sales.

In order to declare portable is used more you need to know the use among that 50% which you have just admitted you don't so therefore declaring what mode is used more is nothing more than an assumption so that so called distinction is not there because this 52% are buying the platform for both modes and may use one more than the other which means that either the 20/30 percent may still be a majority in use this is the flaw in what both you and him are arguing.

Of course you are because you can't deny the point so instead of acknowledging the legitimacy of my point you storm off.

Your point is 100% absolutely irrelevant to our discussion which was ONLY about hardware sales. We were never talking about profit at any single point so throwing that in  just so you dont have to admit that PS4 sales in Japan are not amazing is by definition changing goalposts.

You have used developer support, XBO/Wii U sales & now profits to try and make it seem like PS4 is doing great in Japan. Its not, its doing mediocre at best, just admit it and move on.

Wow, switch has absolutely cannibalized PS4 (and even 3DS) in Japan. No matter how much people try to downplay that.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
