What is this CFL that you speak of... Bastard child of the NFL?

That would be an odd timeline...

Well I'm sure the AFC and NFC were around before the CFL.  They became the NFL when they joined together.

Nah. Maybe if you said Edmonton.

It's an OK city. Open pit fires are legal here, so I'm often heard saying during the summer: "Bunch of fucking shit-kicking hillbillies! Stinking up entire neighborhoods so they can stare at fire like sweaty cavemen! We live in a society!" Or something close to that.

I was in both Calgary and Regina in September and Regina was not fun for me. Seems like it’s mostly run down auto shops and I went to some sketchy pizza diner afterwards. Calgary was great though. The view from the university is amazing.

On topic- doesn’t matter to me. Tiger cats suck.

Meant the AFL and NFL merger which was completed in 1970.

Since its inception in 1920, the NFL fended off several rival leagues. Before 1960, the most important rival was the All-America Football Conference (AAFC), which began play in 1946. The AAFC differed from the NFL in several ways, and the AAFC's perennial champions—the Cleveland Browns—were considered to be one of the best teams in professional football during that time.

The only other professional football leagues in operation were the leagues that would merge to form the Canadian Football League in 1958. The Interprovincial Rugby Football Union (forerunners of the CFL's Eastern Conference) managed to achieve a modest following in the U.S. after landing a contract with NBC (the AFL's future television partners).

The league was formed from a merger between the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union founded in 1907 and the Western Interprovincial Football Union founded in 1936.

If you want to count the Rugby Football league then they have NFL beat by 13 years.  Rugby is a little different from USA football though.
