I enjoyed the game and really liked the protagonist, however I felt someoarts felt really rushed like they just wanted to get the game finished quicker and while the story was ok, it was also underwhelming and disappointing in parts, the ending was really bad I don’t think they should of killed off all the protagonists.
It’s the only FF I felt like I wouldn’t playthrough again, but saying that, just recently I’ve been itching a little to play and explore the world again.

I shouldn't have read this. 😢

While I did enjoyed FFXV at launch I did had a bunch of problems with it.

Chapter 13

Everyone but the main 4 members of the party and Ardyn were forgotten about by the end

Raivus entry arc happening off screen.

Way too easy

Luna being incredibly underdeveloped as both a character and romantic interest

Having each member of the party leave at different points just set up DLC

Fixing plot holes obvious to anyone viva DLC

If you ignore side stuff its pretty short game around 20 hours which feels way too short for an Final Fantasy game.

Turning what should of been the prologue into a movie

Haven't played it since January but gonna replay it once episode Ignis is out too see all the changes for myself.

Move behind the monster and hold the attack button. - FFXV in a nutshell.

Story was way more barebones than Xenoblade X, and that game gets flak for it.

IMO, the only good thing about FFXV is the world exploration, and even that is a sandbox whose inhabitants seem stuck in time and the main story is beyond them.

Like literally, Xenoblade X outdoes FFXV in every regard. Well... except food graphics i suppose.

Agreed. The fact that the games received a similar reception baffles me. I'm a huge FF fan, but only the games that came before FFXII. The rest of them are... meh at best. Except FFXIV which is now a competent MMO.

It still has another year of content to come, so I'm hoping that this time next year we will get the Final Fantasy XV we all wanted. In the last year they have addressed lots of the issues with the game, but with that said they still need to do alot more. I'd like some free roaming after chapter 9.

I really liked ff15. I played it day one and couldnt stop playing it. I got the platinum trophy and did all the end game dungeons. You gonna need to craft healing spells if you want to beat the last dungeon because it wont let you to use item

I'm one of those that actually liked Chapter 13. It felt different, almost like a drawn out horror game. And the battle with Ravus is probably the best one in the game. And the song that plays during the battle?? OMG! Jizz.

With that said, the story even in that chapter is shit, as it is throughout the game. You only understand Ravus' motivations via letters he conveniently left on the floor around his dead body? And an out of screen death?

Fuck you Tabata.

One of the least favorite game in the series for me, below even ffxiii. Almost everything about this game i dont like - music, characters, story, combat system.

It's grown on me more and more over time. At the time of finishing it, I was just annoyed at how much of a mess the linear section was.
Over time, that's become less memorable and the story stands out as being quite excellent. There's so much depth to it that you just don't find out in the main game and have to find by reading through the additional material (for example, the fact that that weird shaped volcano that you can see in the corner of the map is actually the still smouldering remains of Ifrits original body)
After they've done with all the DLC and covered up all of the holes in the narrative, I think my only remaining criticism will be that Luna was such a pointless character overall.
Also, I really hope they make Nifleheim open world in their last DLC. That'd be excellent.

i did not read the OP (sorry)

but i'm on the fence about buying this on the PSN black Friday sale for 20 euro... the deal is this... i've never played a FF game before and i'm not really knowledgeable in JRPGs only play action RPG but since this is somewhat a action RPG too i'm really inclined into buying it, but i fear that this is a little complex and it looks like lots of skill is needed to finish this game... without spoilers, can you address my concerns to confirm my fears or to put my mind to ease???

To be honest, FFXV is actually one of the easiest final fantasies imo. The game literally shows you where you need to go so you cant get lost.

I finished the game at 40 hours which is relatively short for a modern era FF game. The only reason why I even clocked that many hours is because I did some sidequests and hunts - if I did not, it would have been literally around 25-30 hours which is quite short especially comparing it to previous FF games I played - FFXIII (55 hours), FFXIII-2 (55 hours), FFXII (50 hours), and FFX (50 hours).

When I got to Chapter 8 - the game's difficulty did get higher but at the point I was at from all the sidequests and hunts - even my own basic attacks were too much for the main story enemies. I crushed the final boss and the previous to final boss with little to no effort - compared to videos I've seen other people playing the game (rushing through without doing sidequests and hunts).

Game isnt really complex especially since you dont really focus on building up different classes (like in FF1, FF3, FF5) or focus on leveling up certain aspects that take time and planning (Such as the materia system in FF7, the Junction system in FF8 or the Equipment Crystal system in FF9).

If you want a simple experience that doesnt require a lot of grinding or preparation, I would recommend something like FF4 (SNES, GBA, PS1/PSN versions specifically cause the remakes on NDS, iOS, android and PC are a bit more complex and difficult) and FFX (PS2, PS3, PS4 and PC).

FF4 Original is pretty much you equip weapons and armor which increase stats and you level up by killing monsters - which lead you to getting stronger and learning spells from leveling up.

FF10's sphere grid system for me at my age when I first played the game was complex but its quite simple, you gain points from defeating enemies called Ability points (AP), and you use sphere points to level up attributes (like Str+5) or learn single skills on a grid type system kinda like how you would use blood orbs in God of War to level up Kratos' weapons and magic.

Other FF games notably (FF2, FF3, FF5, FF6, FF7, FF8, FF9, FF12 and FF15) have much more things you can do and need to do to improve your chances against enemies and requires a bit more prepration. Its not hard but it can be time consuming.

FF15 is actually quite easy on its own, the level up system is kinda similar to FFX's structure where you get points you can use to increase attributes/skills but imo its not as simple as X's because X's growth system is solely focused on AP while FFXV you level up by cashing in EXP you get from completing quests or killing enemies.

You'll like FFXV especially at the price point it is at right now. I bought my copy for $40 and dont regret it.  Also even though its a action RPG, you are limited in a lot of stuff (i.e. Stamina when running unless you consume a food item, can only control one character unlike Tales series for an example, its not a combo system like a action game - you can literally press and hold the attack button and Noctis will attack).

Bear in mind, there's a lot of things you can do which are optional in the game (i.e. hunts and sidequests) - I finished the game at around 40 hours but I'm currently clocked 65+ hours into the game cause I'm doing all the sidequests and hunts and trying to get a platinum :P.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I will buy it and based on your feedback, I'm more confident going into it. Again, thanks.

Thank you too Bristow for your reply...
