Yes, Sony's been banking on MGS4 to be their first true system-seller (in the vain Halo 3 would be a 360 seller). I expect there to be a slow building hype and near the release things are going to get exciting. This bundle, expensive or not, is THE PS3 bundle to look forward to and I'm damn disappointed I went ahead and got my 80GB PS3 with a SIXAXIS back in January, lol This game will be monstrous, and since Metal Gear hasn't really been that popular a series in the US, will convert people to the series and possibly the system (though I doubt it would really matter much to those only seeing the PS3 as a multimedia/BD player). It appears to be pleasing both the action fan and the stealth fan by taking both genres to new heights. Of course, this could just be the fact that I F***ING LOVE METAL GEAR, but I'm trying to approach this in a very open-minded and unbiased manner.

PS3 has been getting closer to 360 for over a year now. Just recently, they passed MS in all three territories, and with a better line-up of games in 2008, and blu-ray, they will continue to move away.

Its clear isn't it. PS3 is more expensive, but sells more. People don't just look at prices, they compare price and what the product has to offer. Nintendo is known to be the innovator, Sony is the future proof company and it's long promised system selling games are finally coming, and Microsoft has the most games now, but a huge black cloud saying "shoddy hardware" and "expensive add-ons" hanging above it.

Not only will it cost them their leadership position this round, but it will be VERY hard to turn that around the next console war.

If GTA4 is a way bigger hardware sales booster for PS3, than it is for 360, its game over from Microsoft.

I think Sony has the worst ad campaigns out of not only the videogame industry, but the entertainment industry overall. I've seen very few ads that make me not want to buy a product. This is one:

I agree that Sony hasn't done very well with its ad compaigns. Also, it seems even advertising as much as Microsoft does (seems 80% of the time I see a 360 add) and throwing out special offers doesn't always guarantee exceptional sales. The biggest thing to push the PS3 sales further would be hitting the "sweet spot" in pricing, which I don't believe they've hit yet. Seeing how weak the dollar is to the yen, it could be a long time until we see another price cut. Question: If you were a fence riding gamer, would you find a 40GB PS3 with current specs, only with DualShock3 and software backwards compatibility, no bundled game, attractive with a $399.99 price?

I have to admit, those PS3 commercials always kinda freak me out. I don't see the humor in this one either. Original though, but it are commercials that won't attrack the majority of people to buy a PS3, especially no families. They should create more commercials with humor, which are understandable for everyone, like that pack and stack of people commercial once with the PS2, which was quite funny.
