Just a quick thought, but there's most likely many much more toxic comments in pretty much any other Reddit thread that deserve "the most down votes."

Well... I don't think any of those people have as much attention at once as EA does. I wouldn't call it stupid really, it's more like people aren't benevolent and can't all see the worst comments all the time.
The solution is simple but will be hard for many gamers. Industry-wide boycott. The only thing giving EA the confidence and finances to buy/close other good companies and to try to rip off consumers is that people buy their games. After a year or two of a boycott, they will either wake up and change this path or they will be a shell of theirself and the rest of the industry has more chance to thrive. It will be a different world and likely a better one. If you care about the other companies in the industry, buy their games instead and help make them stronger. We do have the ability to make a difference here. I decided I’m not buying EA games until all this changes.

Pretty much my stance on it as well, but sadly I know many people - including several friends of mine - are simply not that disciplined. They can see how they're being ripped off in games like Destiny, or whatever the hell it is (hard to keep track these days)....and they hate it, but at the end of the day, they will still go out and buy these games and continue to support those companies.
All that free publicity! No doubt the majority of those down votes will still buy the game.
And yet a friend of mine will likely drop several hundred dollars into this game because they love Star Wars so much. The people making these decisions listen to shareholders, not Reddit. If you affect that you may see change, but the whole industry is chasing the extended revenue model that has made billions for companies in the past and present.

Yep. I know at least 3 people who will easily end up dropping 200 bucks or more on this game. They'll complain about it as they do, but they'll do it nevertheless.
That said, EA and the rest of these publishers banking so heavily on monetizing everything in their games should tread very carefully, because at the rate they're going, they are going to eventually surpass the threshold for what their general audience is willing to tolerate. Once you cross that line, and perhaps we're starting to see it now, you can only burn so much good will, before you do actually start losing money, and thing is....a loyal customer will be loyal for a long time, you can get away with a lot while you have that loyalty, but once you lose it, it's really hard to get back.

Sums up the whole thing basically.
