guess I'll do my next 5 hints now since I'm bored:
#40 Even though I am the main character, unlike most MCs in this series I am not a lord.

#39 OH OH OH OH OH OOOOOOH OH OOOOOOOOOH OH OH

#38 Do you like whips? Are you an M? Because in this game even the Judge gets whipped.

#37 Do you like Coffee? Would you bring Coffee into your workplace when all logic dictates you shouldn't?

#36 Okay guys. This is something I said forever. Like I'm not even gonna give a proper hint. One of my Fave Female characters comes form this game, hell possibly my fave female character to the point where in multiple voting competitions both here and not here I use her full name as a pun to encourage everyone to vote for her. It started a following on this site. You guys should know this if you've been here long enough.

#40 - Fire Emblem Awakening

#36 - Fire Emblem The Blazing Blade

#39 - And this is a complete shot in the dark, but ARMS?

Okay, I haven't actually written anything about my additions since entry #48 (PeaceMaker), so let me add my reasoning for the entries since then:

#47: The Great Giana Sisters. This one's an obscure, 1987 knock-off of the original Super Mario Bros. that's way better than its source of inspiration. Precisely for that reason, it was banned for some two decades thereafter. Fans made countless mods to the game to simulate "sequel" adventures in the interim. There now is an official sequel (and it's good!), but the original is still my favorite.

#46: A Mind Forever Voyaging. This is a masterful, transcendent, text-based adventure from 1985 about a dystopian future in which the principles of Reaganism have been taken to what the developer saw as their logical conclusions. It was perhaps the most sharply political video game of its time, and some of the trends that it warns against are still relevant.

#45: Virginia. This one's here mostly because I was a HUGE fan of The X-Files back in the day and this game reminds me a lot of that show.

#44: Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar. Ultima IV distinguished itself among RPGs by using a morality-based progression system and by featuring no boss villain. It continues to stand out for these qualities. I like its optimistic tone and storyline.

#43: Leather Goddesses of Phobos. Do I really need to explain what I find fun about this game? ;) :P

You are now caught up on the explanations!

#42: Spin-off from a franchise that recently sprung back into relevancy, and now is in demand for a remake as well, and I agree. Let's just say that Wright may not like this game cause of sharing similarities from a franchise he despises, but this game does everything that series in particular did, but better.

#41: One of the few notable games of 2017 that hasn't been nominated for anything for The Game Awards Show, and while it is far from the best adventure game, it does have one of the best epilogues in any game, complete with a beautiful song that uses complete gibberish in the vocals.

#40: You know its bad when a group of devoted fans are able to make a much more faithful game to a classic and recognizable series, than the dev team that was made almost solely for this game series.

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds

  • Windows PC
  • 2001
  • Real-time Strategy
  • LucasArts

Hmm, a Star Wars RTS. Didn't know that existed. It looks fine.

There is also a newer one called Star Wars: Empire at War for PC from 2006.  It is not going to make my Top 50, but it is a pretty good game.  The space warfare operates more like a traditional RTS, but the on planet warfare does not.  That makes the space battles a lot better in my opinion.  The planet battles you are limited to the units you can bring on an invasion party and can't build anything else.  The overall map is interesting because you are managing your building and unit creation for each planet you control.

This video I found gives you some idea of how it plays.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AUbeQHuxCE

Dynamite Cop

  • SEGA Dreamcast
  • 1999
  • Beat-em Up
  • SEGA AM1

Although it's the sequel to an arcade game that used the license for the 'Die Hard' series outside of Japan but didn't use it itself, this game is awesome, mindless fun. 'Dynamite Cop' is a so-called beat-em-up, where you play through several levels in a linear fashion beating up everything in sight. These games are usually quite short, as is this one, but it has several different 'paths' to take to the end boss depending on the character you choose, which adds replay value.

What makes the game good fun is that you can literally use anything that isn't bolted to the floor, as a weapon. Whether it be a simple chair, a barbell or even a hooked piece of meat in the kitchen. There's weapons too, from knives to anti-tank weapons, and things can be set on fire using a lighter. Each path has their own mini-bosses.

The throwaway story follows a special forces unit trying to rescue the daughter of the president from modern-day pirates onboard a luxury cruise liner. The levels take the player all over the ship, from the engine room to the kitchen to the decks and crew quarters, culminating in the final stage on the bridge where the pirate captain is the end-boss.

This game featured naval battles for the first time in this franchise, something my own country coincidentally was good at, at the time.
