Both Japanese and English?

I only played in japanese to the part of his introduction, and noticed the same voice. Don't know about the english one, because I don't know the voice in english.

I only heard the Japanese one too from Advent Children, I thought the English voice actor for FFVII Remake would still be the one here for some reason.

I haven't played long enough for first impressions. I find the game is slower to get you to learn things than XCX was. XCX is more like BotW where you're dropped right into the action and story. This game is much more like every other Xeno game where there is kind of a lead-up to the inciting event while XCX pretty much puts it in its cutscene, and then hits you with a MASSIVE twist about 6-8 hours in that makes the conflict so much higher. Not sure how XC2 will do its plot.

Don't take what I said above as criticism; I LOVE the game so far.
I know my view isn't widespread, but I liked XCX a lot more than XC, and I am already enjoying this one more too.

As an off-topic related note that you probably don't care about: I like XC, but I played the game before the whole project rainfall thing, and so that extra hype didn't spice up my enjoyment of the game the way it did others. Also, I was a huge pre-existing fan of Xenogears and Xenosaga, so the lower density story got to me. I like high-density stories; particularly in games like Xenogears, and even with the more comedic games like Ace Attorney. (which yes, has more story to it than most RPGs these days), so when XC turned out to be a different sort of game (still an adequate story, I'll add), I was a little off-put, and I never shook that. I did replay it two and a half more times though, for a total of about 200 hours, which I think is more than most people can say :P

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I would say it is much more comparable to Breat of the Wild, given environments have far more fully realized detail texturally and polygonally than WW aimed to have.

Also, this is technically a variation of soft shading, not cel shading :P

You could say that although a bit more photographic in some of the textures than BOTW.

The dubbing has me a bit unsure it's like it not bad but can be some what cringe at times while serviceable at other times.

Loving the game so far. I'd recommend to download the Japanese voices for those who don't mind about them, because I think they feel much better that the English VA. Still, about the game, I don't see a decline in quality with the previous entries, I'd say the opposite actually. I love the characters so far. I prefer the balance of a more light-hearted tone with more epic, dramatic moments. I'm really digging the combat system, even though at the beginning I felt it was a bit slow, it's also more strategical. It's more forgiving than XCX because it introduces new gameplay mechanics slowly. Some people might be put off because of the rythm, but I get that there's too much to digest, so I don't feel it's a bad decision. XCX was critized for the opposite, so they actually heard the feedback and the game is more accesible from the start. Side quests so far are a middle point between XCX and the first one. It was my favourite part of XCX, it was the worst part of the first one imho, and it this game they just feel right and fair. Also, some of them are more meaningful. So... I'm pretty happy about these first 15 hours. I obviously have to play way more of it to make a final decision, but.... I would say that it's probably another case of a Monolith Soft game being a bit underrated. Not because the scores are bad, but because I feel that they still make the best JRPGs in the market, and I don't feel like people appreciate the games enough. But, well, different tastes, I suppose.

I'd say that people who loved the first one will find this one great. Not sure of the people who prefered the more open-world ended nature of Xenoblade Chronicles X, but I doubt that they won't find a lot to enjoy about it.

I can't quite put my finger on it but I think she's particularly proud of something here.

The story picks up really quickly in this game.

How does XC2 handle collectibles? Is it still "go hunt this item in this very (in X's case extremely) non-specific area, glhf"? Finding rare collectibles was one my main issues with both previous games.

Really liking the game so far. Good gameplay. Good story. Good characters and voice acting. Good music. Just a fun game to play. My only negative would be that its a bit complicated. Its a bit too deep imo. Theres just so much to learn and theres a tutorial every 2 minutes it feels like. I'm only about 5 hours in though.
