Forums - Sales Discussion - Amazon U.S. November bestsellers and general Amazon-based discussion

Call it a hunch, but I think Nintendo fans love the Mario. I am really interested to see how things go down on the 19th though

It feels like we got transported three weeks into the past with Odyssey at #1 and both Switch hardware versions in the top 10.

A wild Link: Skyward Sword amiibo appears.
It used "Chart Enter".
It was highly effective.

Again I still do not understand all the "concern" for Sony right now. I think they are being smart personally......still selling very well in spite of a "new" XB and the hottest item this holiday in the Switch which just go ta HUGE game in SMO......in my opinion it would be crazy for them to panic and try to undercut when they have been consistently killing it all year WW. They have been playing their cards right all gen and it is no different at this point. I still expect them to be up YOY for Nov and Dec......so ehhhhhhh I say let us all just enjoy FINALLY seeing THREE consoles selling great!

While this will most probably be the best year for the PS4 (so far), the sales increase comes almost exclusively from Europe and Japan. Just have a look on the global yearly chartz here: The PS4 is 42% there compared to last year's total sales in the US, but already 63% in Europe and even 68% in Japan (before adjustments, but since the results from Japan are known and those from the US extrapolated from NPD, these two won't change much, meaning Europe and RoW will get a bunch more sales). It's possible that the PS4 would be down YoY in the US at the end while worldwide it will be a record year because it's selling much better in the other regions.

These weaker sales of course show up on Amazon, where it's far behind the Switch and ONE X right now, hence where the concerns come from. Also, the ONE X is doing better than was expected by most, and the Switch just a runaway success, reinforcing that image

Wait....the PS4 has been up/flat in US(up more so than flat) like for the entire year.....so how is the increase exclusively from Europe/Japan? Yeah it was Flat in Jan, Flat in Feb, up Mar, Up Apr, Down May, up July-Sep, And Down in Oct(all according to the NPD leaks). So it was only down for 2 months in the US so far. Can't say what it will do for Nov/Dec yet but it is on track to be up YOY in the US as well.

But I still don't get your reply to me......none of that even spells concern or worry for Sony just because the XB1 and Switch are doing "better" than it currently. It is still selling great so I guess I just don't see what the problem is.....Do people really think Sony should react for 1 month of sales after pretty much dominating all year WW....it just makes no sense to me......yet it happens every year it seems lol.

Sooo people are dumb for not waiting for the better deal?

Or could it possibly be that 98% of people are unaware of the upcoming discount?

Most likely.

Has there been any kind of publicity for their upcoming deal? All I've seen is the JPEG from the PS Blog site.

I other subject, now that the Xbox One X released and we could see its performance on the Amazon chart, peaking at No. 2 i would like to know what do you guys think:

Do you see the 199$ PS4 reaching the Top of the Chart?

If you had to bet which console has the higher chance to reach the Top of the Chart, what would you choose?

The 199$ PS4 or the Xbox One X LE

It's just as well: most consumers are flocking to the stores for BF deals.

What happens in advance of that is of little import to them.

I read somewhere that most people were buying online on those days to avoid the craziness of going to a retail store.

Yep, it is still weird how everyone focuses on that one retail holiday.

Don't worry, it doesn't spell any concern or worry for me either. It's just that for once Sony doesn't look unbeatable, and that makes some people eiher panicking or gushing or doomsaying, depending on how much they like Sony, and tried to explain it to you and the reasons why that is. And yes, they pretty much react for just one month where the console ain't dominating.

And I didn't say exclusively from Europe and Japan, but they will most likely have most weight in the increase. It's already 2M in front but the NPD data suggests that only a modest part of that increase is coming from the US yet (could change during the holiday season).

Oh well yes I agree with that....Europe is def the biggest place for the PS4. I was just lost when you said almost exclusively from Europe and Japan I guess that word just didn't fit in there lol. Either way this will FINALLY be an interesting holiday season! And I am stoked! This place has been dead for NIN/XB fans sales wise for a few years now so this is awesome to me to see so many users finally posting more consistently!
