Just checking: you were sober when you posted this, right?

His points were pretty thought out tbh.

Doesn't mean he's sober...

Weird that Destiny 2 went back to #1 at $43.

Also odd that XB1 S dropped down 2 places in yearly and PS4 slim went up 3 places even though the XB1 S is higher in the hourly chart.

A few things ...

I don't think the XB1 did quite as well as people assume and one of the main contributory factors in it staying at the top is the fact both the competitors ran out of stock. Being the least popular console leading into Black Friday means they had more stock already in the retailers and storage. MS are victims of their own strategy of dropping the price at this time of year AND promoting this time of year as the 'most important'. People are now waiting and will continue to wait.

In terms of stock, Nintendo are still playing it safe and so I feel it was inevitable the stock would eventually run dry. Luckily they now seem to be on top of restocking and once an average for the months is assessed (one year isn't enough to ascertain 'certain' data) they will be able to strategies going forward much more clearly. They aren't really competing with the other two manufacturers, they know they have a huge fanbase and are just 'steady as you go'.

Sony clearly made enough stock for their projections and running the whole price drop for a week prior to Black Friday shows their main objective was to sell through everything they made. People need to stop looking at the Amazon charts and thinking it's as simple as who leads here. Sony know that dropping the price substantially at this time of the year sends out the wrong signal to consumers (see MS). I DO believe that because we've seen a substantial drop in price, and Sony know this is the wrong signal, they did it anyway because an 'official' price drop is coming very soon anyway. Like I keep saying, Sony looks are WW figures and also understands where MS will focus most, which is why Sony pushed more consoles to Europe and double down on PS+ for the US. They're pushing in the US and doubling down on regions they know they have in the bag.

I'm sorry Gribble but I have a million questions:

"I don't think the XB1 did quite as well as people assume and one of the main contributory factors in it staying at the top is the fact both the competitors ran out of stock."

>So if they both ran out of stock, why didn't the other competitor stay on top too?

"Being the least popular console leading into Black Friday means they had more stock already in the retailers and storage."

>Or Microsoft doesn't manufacture as many units as its contemporaries?

"MS are victims of their own strategy of dropping the price at this time of year AND promoting this time of year as the 'most important'.

>Isn't this time of year the most important?

"People are now waiting and will continue to wait."

>Wait for what?

"Sony clearly made enough stock for their projections and running the whole price drop for a week prior to Black Friday shows their main objective was to sell through everything they made. >...I'm still trying to figure what point you're trying to make here... Do you work for Sony by the way? You seem to know about what goes on at their meetings.

It's a joke. Gribble earlier joked about drinking.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 position on amazons through different markets.

US - 10 (+11) , LE - 49 (new)
Japan - 7 (-2) ;Second version - 2 (+8) - LE - 33(-4) , XC Bundle - 24 (+12 )
Canada - 10 (+15) , LE - 17(new)
UK -15 (+5)
Germany - 25 (+3)
France - 12 (same) ; LE - 55(-10)

With XC 2 going for the launch day, I would say that its run on amazon has been pretty good for most regions exclusing Germany and UK, which is great!Hopefully this good performance translate in excellent sales.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
