I asked this above; aren't those preorder months relatively dead months for console sales?

Yea.  Nov is when things really start ramping up.  I think Oct is when things start getting a small boost, too, namely because of releases, which may be why the preorders are at #63 and #73.  Other things were rising.  And like I told them, the BF sales of the $199 PS4 already passed the XBX and its preorders.  And the $189 hasn't enter the Top 100, yet.  I'm sure it will, but I predict it will be in the #80-100 range.

Of course, this doesn't address the numerous insiders we have had saying that PS4s greatly outnumber the other two at physical retail stores, with one saying they nuked the others in terms of units shipped.  I know that's what I saw at my local Walmart.  And we have had two employees here saying at their specific stores they got ~200+ PS4s.

Walmart has over 5K stores in the US.  Now, I saw ~75 PS4s at my Walmart.  Some stores in larger areas could have as many as 200+, like the employees of Best Buy reported for theirs.  Let's just say the average was ~100.  That would be ~500K+ just for physical Walmarts.  You could combine all other retail stores and probably get the same ~500K+.  So, physical retail alone could be over 1M, which doesn't even address how many they put into online retailers.

Nov./Dec vs. every other month is about a 3.5-4:1 ratio.

We got some bad news, buiness article saying switch and x were some of the best sellers on BF with no mention of ps4, saw it on resetera. Seems running out of stock before BF was ps4's biggest weekness.

That's great news: it could have won the week, despite losing the day.

Consoles are dead!

How is it bad news?

Shortages on the most important day.

That's a big nothing article.  The only retailer it quotes is Target, which had the best XBO deal.  And an analytics company that made their prediction before BF even started.

Edit:  And as Insidb said, it could still win the BF week large, while losing the actual day.

Trailing averages will do that.

The Wii u didn't have a problem with it's full price AAA hits selling well.

Not necessarily.  Every year there is almost 20m extra ps4's on the market. Every year the digital market share increases. That means it will be harder for games to bear the cards.

Only 1game has ever cracked the top 3 in the yearlys

Probes my point. Nobody broke into the top 2. Sony have that on lockdown.

#3 might be Sony's too by year end. Every year that goes by it will be harder to make he top 3. Maybe rdr2 or gta vi could do it in future.

Can't help but wonder how many copies Mario Odyssey has sold at this point, it's been PARKED in the top 5 hourlies for almost 2 months now. What a juggernaut!

Mario Odyssey sold 1.1 million in November alone according to Nintendo. But i still not understand if that was only US or NA, or America lol, can someone tell me if that was for US only?

Anyway, with all the legs Mario games have, i think 2 million are a given in 2017, maybe 2.5-3 million as well.

That seems like a strong underestimation: look at Wii sales figures for Mario; they are bananas.
