Dude come on, Splatoon 2 is big but it's no Mario. True, Splatoon 1 almost touched 3D World...but it was 3D World. An uninspired souped up 3D Land (imo). This Mario is a whole different story.

Switch version will probably unify the versions and tap into both of their selling power combined to go for 10-20 million units. This isn't a two way battle for the top, this is a three way battle. This is my prediction:

Animal Crossing will be the #2 selling game on the Switch lifetime, other than Pokemon (and that's only if they release a legit mainline pokemon game, otherwise Animal Crossing is 1st). You know what? Forget this, I'm making a thread!

Splatoon 2 can outsell Breath of the Wild lifetime. But for it to outsell Odyssey... don't think that's even possible

Oh, hell yeah it was fun. But it was nothing new and didn't have a must have gravity to it. I think the 3D Series needs a break after 3D World.

Yes. 3D World beat the original Splatoon, but I think this time Splatoon 2 will outsell Odyssey. SSplatoon 2 is a new IP no more, it has already won an established fanbase, and it's the 3rd biggest online game Nintendo has (I don't know how many people play Pokemon daily, it would be nice to see user comparaisons between MK, Smash, Pokemon and Splatoon) so it's going to be pushed to seell the online mode.
