Forums - Sony - SinglePlayer Is NOT Dead

99% of all games I buy have/is single player games.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

And none of them are Multiplayer focused... although some couch co-op from Sony would be wellcome.

I saw one person saying multiplatform singleplayer games are dead... not really applicable to this thread.

Find him and eviscerate his children.

Or suggest some great single player multiplatform titles.

I'd go with single player is NOT dead and remove the first line.

Better to be upbeat and right by default than aggressive and showing why others are wrong.

It's just playing on the fact that one of the last threads I posted was 'Sony Are Idiots'. Just having fun because video games are 'fun'.

It also answer that small provocation that Sony launched few new IPs this gen ¬¬"

Just wished to post this comment from another thread with Shaw Layden commenting on SP.

Microsofts - Loftis (on single player games):
"I don't think that it's dead per se,"
"I do think the economics of taking a single-player game and telling a very high fidelity multi-hour story get a little more complicated"

Sony - Shawn Layden (on single player games):
“My philosophy is to play to my strengths,”

“And if you look at the studios we have – Naughty Dog, Guerrilla, Santa Monica Studio, Japan Studio – that’s what we do well. We do story. We create characters.”

“Those are the kind of things we do well. It’s what we’re known for. It really speaks to our entertainment DNA. We wish to entertain. We wish to make you happy. We wish to make you cry. That whole range of emotions we can pluck at to make you have a great experience. We’re big on character. We’re big on story.”

Sony still believes in makeing Single player experiances, proof is in the pudding.

Loftis doesnt believe you can do multi-hour story driven AAA single player games.
You want single player... go look at the indies... is bascially what was said.

I cant get over the quote..... by the head of the xbox First party publishing department.

I love single player games, and usually dont play much multiplayer ones.

It's not dead, and never was.The idea of just multiplayer being profitable is just an stupid believe that some executives of certain publishers have.Just like the idea of turn-based rpg's not being profitable, even with a lot of counter-examples in the market. These things come and go with time.

Like I said to DonFerrari, it seems his issue is that they can't financially exploit gamers in single player games as much as they can with multiplayer games.

I would have to agree, too much investment, risk and low opportunity to nick and dime userbase
