Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo raised forecast for FY 2017. for Switch from 10m to 14m

I'm not surprised but then again I believed that rumor that said Nintendo expected to ship 20m Switch units in its first year. I mean, people who were low-balling the Switch kept on judging it as a console but kept on forgetting that the handheld audience is also buying into it.

Some people argued that until it outsells the Wii U we can't even count the portable audience among buyers yet, goal posts for you.

3DS is up by 5% with respect to last fiscal year. The legs are amazing :O

It's certainly had a positive effect on their stock.

They just passed 50 for the first time since September 2008, when the Wii was at its peak.

Even crazier, 2007/2008 is the only time it has ever been higher.

I wonder how much higher it can go, or if it could possibly match or surpass it...

Not sure but i think Switch+mobile can rival Wii+DS in terms of profit and mindshare for Nintendo.

Very good news for Nintendo.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Not just Switch and Mobile, but there's the Super Nintendo World theme park as well, even though that's way down the road.

That too.

Obviously, gaming will always be Nintendo's bread and butter, but it certainly doesn't hurt to try and establish other pillars and streams of revenue and profit.
With the IPs they have, it's long overdue!

Hold up. That's 16.7 million Switch's in the 1st year. Didn't the PS4 do 15 mil first year?
