Forums - Nintendo - Calamity Ganon VS. Majora's Mask Moon

Which Zelda monster is scarier?

The Moon 26 74.29%

Calamity Ganon 9 25.71%

Total:35

can't judge because I'm too old. back in days the moon was creepy as fuck.

Any entity that hangs overhead for three days, will destroy all life when he eventually lands, and is so furious that it maintains that horrifying scowl for the full 72 hours will generally win the "which is scarier" contest in my mind lol

It has that typical Terminator/Jason/unstoppable villain thing going for it too, taking its time as it knows you can't escape. It's still a bit creepy to see.

real material of nightmares

Funny comparison.

I think the moon from Majora's Mask is a more constant factor, it's all around, always refered to and it's always there. It gets closer and closer each passing day, plus if you fail it really does cause total destruction. I think the moon wins.

@ruffy37: Ocarina of Time should not have been rated E.

The moon. That is not even a contest. That thing gave nightmares to countless children when it first launched.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Both are similar in the you can basically at all times see the end of the world from wherever you are. The moon wins though on the sheer 72 hour counter on the screen counting down. Due to it you always have this feeling of suspense and needing to rush. In BotW you can just do whatever. There isn't any time limit, as most games do when "the end is nigh" Can't tell you how many times I reach a point in an RPG and it tells you some no way back point after some cutscene were the end is seconds away, and then I go and do like 30 hours of side quests.

You can't do that in Majora's mask.

Calamity Ganon (in its purple pig cloduy form) looks kind of cute.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

The whole game revolves around the moon, constantly, without fail.

Calamity Ganon is a looming presence but it doesn't have a core mechanic that MAKES you think about him constantly. Instead it's all told via lore and the words of the people you meet. You could theoretically go hours without thinking about Ganon, depending on the frequency of blood moons - in Majora's Mask, the longest you can go is just about an hour before you have to address the moon. For me, the moon, no contest.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

The moon by far, so creepy looking

This discussion actually makes me wish that Nintendo goes this direction for the next Zelda game.To make a more creepy, dark themed game.A more tragic game if you will.MM was such a stellar game.
