Once you get online check the PS Store, get Warhawk, and check out some other games. Most have demos.

Also, consider R&C and Folklore, and maybe a PS Eye for the downlaodable games and video chat.

The rewards are pretty awesome. You can select any weapon at any time (outside fights), max out the ammo, play as any character in the game, and 2 funny drake's versions : doughnut drake and cartoon drake. But the real replay value comes from the crushing mode. After you beat hard (I did hard the first time through) you unlock crushing and the gameplay changes a lot. The AI becomes much smarter and you will have to prove how much of a macho you really are. I finished the game in crushing mode but I died 30+ times in some areas. Had to take a break, forget about the game and come back the next day and get through it. Uncharted (single-player), CoD4 (multi-player) and RockBand (party play) are my favorite games of 2007. If you don't get Uncharted you should change your name to "ArtOfDevil".
PS: I made a crappy movie with all the unlockable characters using my old videocamer, it sucks but at least you can see Doughnut Drake, Cartoon Drake and all the others ;)

Wow, I didn't know you could do all that. I just beat the game and stopped playing.
*whips back out Uncharted*
Woo! Go Art of Angels.
Burnout, Devil May Cry 4, Assasin's Creed (a little repetitive), Folklore, Ratchet and Clank are all great games.
My two favorite PS3 games are Uncharted and Heavenly Sword. Uncharted is a must buy. Go get it!
Heavenly is very short, but if you can find it cheap .... get it. Its a fun experience.
Tell me you PSN whenever you get it!

I know Assassin's Creed is very polarizing, but I didn't find it too repetitive. It's such a unique experience with some of the best controls in videogaming, that the few repetitive tasks didn't get old to me. The game isn't that long and the missions contain similar elements but play differently (especially the main part of them). I enjoyed Assassin's Creed a lot more than Heavenly Sword, although HS does have some of the best animations in videogames. I think all the games you mentioned are worth playing, with Folklore being the weakest (to me that game was the most repetitive). I suppose most videogames are repetitive it's just how much you enjoy playing them. I'm 150 hours into Oblivion and the combat isn't going to change but I still find it compelling.

@ windbane
I loved AC. It was tons of fun! I was saying that to avoid flame.
I really like Folklore. Its like a HD Pokemon with much, much cooler creatures. The world was beautiful and the level design was very unique.
