Yeah but it had less than 8 gb dedicated to gameing.

PS4pro has more dedicated to gameing, than the normal PS4 or PS4slim, because of that extra 1gb.

Even if its a minor differnce.

8GB was exactly dedicated to the APU ...

Just as how there's an extra ARM processor in the PS4, doesn't mean we should include it in our calculations for consistency's sake ...

No game developer is ever going to touch that 1GB of DDR3 just as how no game developer is ever going to use the extra ARM processor in either PS4 units ...

But just ignoreing it isnt fair either.... the Xbox One X has 12gb, but "no game developer is ever going to touch that (full 12gb)".

That 1gb extra allows the PS4pro to have 1gb more to gameing.

You don't know that ...

You're not able to store textures or any game assets into that 1GB of memory either ...

I remember they saying on launch that the 1Gb would be split half to make the UI better and half to help on the enhancements of the games.

PS4 Pro uses just 5.5gb for gaming.

Cerny himself said in an interview:

On the standard [PS4], if you’re swapping between an application like Netflix and a game, Netflix is still resident in system memory, even when you’re playing the game. We use that architecture because it allows for very quick swapping between applications. It’s all already in memory.

On PS4 Pro, we do things a bit differently. When you stop using Netflix, we move it to the gigabyte of slow, conventional DRAM. Using that sort of strategy frees up almost a gigabyte of our 8GB of GDDR5. We use 512 megabytes [of that] for games, which is to say that the games can use 5.5GB rather than 5 GB. And we use most of the rest to make the PS4 Pro interface 4K, rather than the 1080p it’s been to date. So when you hit the PS4 button, that’s a 4K interface.

It's 9gb VS 5.5 which explains quite a bit, really.

Matches what I said/remembered about half being for the game and the other for UI and seems like presentation.

Unless it removed the lootboxes, i'm still not interested in either version.

How will loot boxes affetc the way you play the ga,e? You can play the game and not worry about the lootboxes.

I wonder if the upcoming revision of the PS4 pro hardware will change that. They've had the pro out in the wild for a while now.

Have you not heard about this or what?

Sure, you can not worry about the lootboxes and grind for hundreads of hours instead.

Of course! I love my ""choice" there.

I prefer not to buy it, than to subject myself to torture willingly. Thank you very much.

I guess that's good news for people who plan on getting SoW on the xbox one x. Personally, it doesn't affect my decisions with games because I'm not interested in either of the upgraded consoles.

The first game you had to grind to many hours. Also it's not as bad as you make it out to be. Mordor is around 23 hours to beat the story and extras https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=18006 .

Shadow of War is 35 hours to beat the game and extras. https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=44022

You can play the game  without lootboxes and without hundreds of hours of grinding.
