Forums - Gaming - Prediction: Xbox One X will be an absolute disaster

It won't be a complete disaster, it will do OK for what it is.

Won't do very much in the way of making Xbox more relevant or significantly increasing sales though.

Between PS4, Switch, and PC i have no clue why i need an X.

I don't think it will be a 'disaster'. Just like Sony, MS will have a target in mind and if they hit it it will be a success.

The PS5 Exists.

My opinion is no one gives a shit about Microsoft these days.  They can focus on servers.  I mean "the cloud".  Be better for my stock purchase of them.

Pretty big userbase for a device nobody cares about.

Anywho, I believe the X1X will stimulate sales. People will upgrade, some will buy it simply because it offers the most polished console ports. It will help get the X1 userbase to 40 million faster.

Is it gonna be some huge game changer though? No, not really. But MS will benefit by having the best ports, its a talking point.

Yup.. you are right. Especially the talking point part.

I do think though that people are too quick to forget their history and to notice that this has all happened before.

This is just the PS2 vs Xbox all over again. Albeit this time around the xbox brand is a better known entity and would at least be more successful than the ogXbox was.

Then, not only did the Xbox have the "most powerful console in the world" it didn't have the kinda price difference gap that the one x will have to the PS4.

And i also think thats what people forget, the one x isn't competing with the PS4pro..... its competing with the PS4.

I have my beliefs, but lets  just say it remains to be seen just how important "better/native 4k" is going to be.

None of this matters though, because i think its obvious now that MS is all about running a better more profitable division than about "winning" a war.

If you separate the sales of the Xbox One and Xbox One S from the lifetime sales of Xbox One X - the Xbox One X on its own has a strong chance of selling less than the Wii U's lifetime. I cannot imagine the Xbox One X selling over 14 million units.
There is no compelling software to warrant the extra cost of purchasing the Xbox One X.
The PlayStation 4 Pro has the benefit of being much cheaper than the Xbox One X, and it is backed by a much stronger library of existing and upcoming games. The Xbox One X will only appeal to a niche audience.

lol, I don't get the need for this sort of keyboard analysis. Microsoft themselves have told us multiple times the X is not going to outsell the S, which itself is already not outselling the PS4, or Switch. Outside of delusional, detached from reality fanboys, no one expects the X to win MS this gen. And none of those delusional people exist here on this forum.

No gamez argument is irrelevant though. PS4 built its lead literally with no gamez, and the exclusives people cling to when making list wars sell to tiny amounts of people compared to all the big multiplat games.

It will bomb here in the UK. We don't buy expensive consoles.

I didnt know children were such high purchasers.  If that is the case let me then leapfrog must be a stock that will take off....

I'm talking about all the kids who ask for the X for Christmas, then the parents end up getting the S because it sounds like X and because it's a lot cheaper.

MOTHER AT GAMESTOP

Mom: I want to know the difference between the Xbox One S and Xbox One X, because my son is asking me for one but i already bought him the S not so long ago.

Gamestop Employee: Uhm, well...the difference is that it displays the games at 4K.

Mom: Fourkay?

Gamestop Employee: 4K mam, it means that the image is sharper on your TV.

Mom: And...that is all? Does it have new games or something?

Gamestop Employee: Well, no. Both the S and X share the same library of games.

Mom: Timmy, 500$ is sounding like too much money for almost the same thing that you have.

Timmy: But mom!!!!

Mom: Enough Tim, pick something else. Forget about the One X.

That was pretty perfect accuracy of what would happen

Then Timmy picked the Switch instead.
