Honestly this game doesn't seem to benefit much from a res boost above 1080p.

Trust me, it matters heaps when you are playing it.
The way the grass is rendered at 4k is simply divine, and that is most noticeable in motion.

I played this with my GTX 1070 in 4k as well. It looked great and I completed the first major mission got my para-glider and stopped.

I just recently got a switch and honestly I can barely notice the difference and I even noticed some things in the switch version that just made it look better. It's great having it on PC in 4K but it honestly just doesn't look all that much better IMO.

You clearly didn't play with the Shrek mod.

Possibly but it was definetly in 4k and it just wasn't all that much better. I think graphics like this just don't benefit as much from 4k as something like Crysis 3 which just look outright stunning in 4k even till this day. I had Crysis 3 on my screen once and my wife asked me what movie this was when I just had the character sitting their in the rain.

Dolphin had custom texture packs, for games.

And people took it upon themselves to make them for games.

Xenoblade for the Wii vs PC (dolphin) is a massive differnce in image quality.

 

Theres already people modding BoTW, so certain character models look differnt ect.

BotW on PC has me seriously excited!

My biggest criticism of the game was it wasn't on PC. BotW isn't just a game but a giant canvas where modders would be able to have a ball and I eagerly await to see what modders have been up to with this as emulation advances.

Hoping to see a Princess Mononoke mod.
