Forums - Gaming - A rant. Greedy lootboxes, and a better way to do user reviews.

I like loot boxes if it's not pay2win stuff. And even pay2win can be fun, for example Fifa ultimate team and PES myclub are fun and popular.

Opening these boxes or packs reminds me of collecting ice-hockey and football cards, panini stickers etc when I was a kid. The idea wasn't to own every damn card. No one called it gambling Bäck then hehe.

My son loves to play PvsZ Garden Warfare 2, collecting coins and open a pack. Whatever stuff he packs he's happy and excited if his friends pack thibgs he doesn't have. Then there's grown men crying about not getting a pink weapon skin or whatever lol I Just find it funny.

Very nice post and glad to see that there are some out there who don’t hate the idea of these loot crate if it’s done right.

Just like me i also use to collect Basketball and Football cards as a kid, the fun part was not knowing what was in the pack. That was the whole point of being a collector. Today we get offered some great games which offer this type of feature (Which isn’t Pay-To-Win) and separates the players experience from others. Seeing someone with a very rare cosmetic or having a bunch of cards your friends don’t have and vices a versa. This idea is refreshing and adds a sort of excitement to games today. Maybe it’s only relatable for the old schoolers of today's gaming industry.

The problem is we get games like Battlefront 2 which only uses this feature as a Pay-To-Win method and tempts players to buy to be competitive. And sadly using the Star Wars name to do so as well.

If done right it can add more value to your games.

If done wrong can ruin the value of games.

I am not entirely agasint the idea or am 100% i fore it. I definitly havent seen the problem with previous games i have played. Theres proof it can be done right.

BTW I loved PvZ Garden Warfare. I thought everything that game did was great.

Not really. Most of the stuff in loot boxes probably would never of existed if it wasnt for Loot crates. Meaning most of those cosmetic designs might have never happened. It could also work agasint your claim where these stuff put in loot boxes were created becasue the devs saw a reason to add more into the game than they should so they made them with this new system. I can bet in FM7 the Drivatar Costumes would never of happened without the incentive of some form of Loot idea.

Literally your whole stance on loot boxes revolves around defending FM7.

I'd call it more of a flop-clump-thud then a roll, but to each their own.

Well, the developer already got paid for the game when it was originally bought. Used car, and book sales don't get criticized, but used game sales deserve it?

No, they don't, but I'm saying that they get as much money from a used copy as they do from a pirated copy, it's not creating an extra sold copy. I'm saying that you should be able to understand why people pirate.

When you pirate games, it becomes more than just being about whether the dev/pub gets revenue from the game. When you buy a used copy of a game, you are at least operating within the confines of the law and promoting economy in some manner. The games industry can still benefit from the sale, this time solely via the store instead of storefront + dev. When you (illegally) pirate a game, no one benefits but you.

Loot boxes are terrible. I won't support any game that has them. Speaking of which: In the console realm, is this just a third party and Microsoft thing so far? I see MS has already employed this crap in Halo 5, Gears Of War 4, and now Forza 7. I can't find any games from Nintendo or Sony that have had a loot box systems.

Nintendo i havent seen it. Sony do worse. Play TLOU multiplayer and its basically pay to win. I believe UC does similar plus play GT5. I think there was a car that cost $120 to earn..

Nothing wrong with loot boxes if done right. Like OverWatch.

I can't find the car in GT 5 you're referenceing, but do believe you. Having said that, Forza 5 has a car that costs $110, and it's DLC seemed more maligned than that of GT 5.

Yeah, as for the posts linked by NATO, it's been established that Forza 7 does not have dynamic weather.
