Forums - Gaming - Pick your poison: Timed DLC vs Timed Exclusivity

Would you rather wait for:

DLC 47 67.14%

Full Game 23 32.86%

Total:70

Hi guys!

This is a reaction thread to both the Destiny 1 DLC coming to Xbox One after 2 years and the one about Microsoft trying to keep PUBG off PS4 for longer threads.

I wanted to ask the VgChartz community, what would you rather:

1) Wait for a year (or more) for DLC that could include anything from skins, maps, extra side missions, etc; or

2) Wait for a year (or more) for the Entire Game.

PLEASE VOTE AND COMMENT!

P.D. Both tactics are Negative, im well aware of that!

Not only do I pick none, but nowadays even if a game came out day one complete with everything it will ever have (as it was long ago) and I wanted that game I'd still not purchase it on its release day because I am one of those who prefer to wait till the price comes down.
If it's both or either a timed exclusivity or a timed DLC (on a system I don't have) and I really want that game, I'll simply wait for the time period to pass then the whole deal would come to my system of choice and then... I'd still wait for the price to come down, as I'm still doing for Rise of the Tomb Raider who first came to Xbox and has now been on PS4 for a while but I'm still waiting cause I want to pick it up at the best price.
Patience is really a virtue and with so many games it's not like I'm twiddling my fingers doing nothing waiting for a specific game anyway so I'm good.

EDIT: Perhaps you should have added a third choice "Pick neither, wait for the best deal on your system" or something.

Waiting a year for a game might enthrall the fact that it comes with every single DLC released in a single disc (i.e. like GOTY versions, just called something else, like "Definitive" or whatever), and there's also chances that it comes with a price reduction instead of the original price. Considering there's no shortage of videogames right now, I'd take waiting a year for a game.

That is why i called the Thread, "Choose your Poison"

I just want to know which is the lesser evil according to the community.

Thanks for your reply!

It could come with new content. Like the post game dungeon in Eternal Sonata.

Or it can fail to include any real new content like DBZ Xenoverse 2 on the switch. While at the same time having the game and the DLC cost more.

Sounds like it's worth waiting in either case.

I rather wait longer on the full edition of a game being released on the PS4. Than to wait for DLC because I will lose interest in DLC if I have to wait longer than a year for it to finally release on PS4.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Seeing as I'm not into multiplayer games, I'd much rather have timed DLC than a timed exclusive game, since I might not even care about the DLC content depending on what it is.

The thing I hate about timed exclusives is that most of the time we don't even know if it is timed or not until it suddenly gets announced for other platforms months later. Take Crash Bandicoot for example, where it's never been labeled as a PS4 exclusive but at the same time Activision refuses to say when/if it will come to other platforms, making us wait months on end until someone decides to clear up what's going on with that game's exclusivity.

I would go with timed exclusivity. With that, the console that gets it late could get all the dlc with it at launch (rise of the tomb raider, dead rising 4, ni-oh, etc). The experiences on both consoles will be the same, so one version won't have a game with less content than the other version of the game if you pick dlc.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Not mentioning the higher chances of having the bugs ironed out when you wait as opposed to buying day one...

Which is what I'm also doing for another game: Dark Souls 3 The fire fades (GOTY).

DLC. By the time DLC comes out. The game is old and I stopped playing it. So I don't need to buy it. Win win. Half the time it's pointless garabage.
