Forums - Politics - Trump says Rex Tillerson 'wasting his time' with North Korea negotiations

He's inept at everything he does. However, it would be interesting to note that this, his NFL shit, him shitting on Puerto Rico, etc. all happen when he was supposed implement the sanctions against Russia which had its deadline... yesterday, I believe?

Maybe it's just my perception but I have the feeling it got much worse with NK since Trump is president. But why should that be a surprise, Trump (who seems to be insane as well) believes that handling that crazy guy in NK like he does is the right way.

It's as if you go to a thug and tell him that only stupid idiots without a brain are thugs. It will make it only worse.

He once said that he will set with missile man and negotiate now he is backing out, any way politicians do that one negotiate and the other threatens, still I think disaster can be avoided, China is the mystery here, I thought that it can handle this and bring everyone to their senses here
Let's hope our secretary of state can do it

That would be if the US was innocent. But Trump is clearly enticing the guy. Don't expect China to be stupid.

They pretty much are right now ...

There's a reason why both sides agreed to a ceasefire since 5 decades ago ...

A lot has changed over time. Can you really certain that China wouldn't turn their backs against North Korea when sanctions could be devastating for them ?

I doubt NK can be anexed while that guy is in power. It would make more senst o unify the koreas though (he would still have to be removed).

It's easier than you think when you consider that China is right beside North Korea so projecting all of their air force on a small area not too far away is realistic ...

The incursion could be over in less than 3 months as long as they start their first military action with a big impact ... (I'd be surprised if it even took over 1 month for China to control a tiny regime such as North Korea)

I think the dream of reunification is over for the Korean peninsula, China isn't going to let NATO invade North Korea and the US doesn't want China annexing North Korea ...

If the US starts with military action then there's a high likelihood of WW III happening but if we just let China take North Korea for itself only both of their army's will suffer casualties for the most part ... (The other option is to bait North Korea but there will be civilian casualties with South Korea and Japan however will it really be worth it to pay for liberation of North Korea with the lives of foreign citizens ?)

Is it really worth starting WW III to achieve reunification of the Korean peninsula lead by South Korea when we could just let China instead annex North Korea for much less the cost in lives to guarantee the security of stability for the next 2 or 3 decades for South Korea and Japan ?

I know (South Park) Tweak's reaction is supposed to be a dramatization to poke fun at how scared people are, but I genuinely am concerned and scared he's gonna say something stupid to escalate this in a way that could be avoided

Of course it makes no sense to start WW3. But that's what rocket man and orange baffoon are doing.

Just send in the troops. Just bomb North Korea, remove Kim Jung Un and install a puppet as the new North Korean leader that obeys Trump.

You dont care that North Korea has like 15-20 nukes, and can attack South Korea/Japan/US California ?

If Trump forces Kim Jung Un, he might choose to go out with a bang.

World is over populated right? who cares about a few million dieing due to it? am I right?

This is why these crappy small dictators all want nukes, because it effectivily keeps the US out.

Trump cant do sh*t, without it resulting in results that that just arnt acceptable.

You think Trump is hated now? wait till he gets like 50m people or so killed.

Surely no one actually think North Korea has anything that can reach California from Pyongyang. No one really thinks that, right?

Honestly, I do think trying to reason with North Korea is a waste of time. Hasn't stopped the world from trying for the past several decades.

"A 16-page memo issued by the Los Angeles-area Joint Regional Intelligence Center urges officials in the state to "familiarize themselves with their agency's radiological and nuclear emergency response plans," adding preparation will "reduce the number of casualties and enable effective response."

"Last week, dozens of lawmakers gathered in Hawaii for a secret meeting to discuss how they can ready for an attack. The public wasn't invited to the gathering because officials said they didn't "want to spook any of the public." Military experts say a missile could reach the island in 20 minutes if fired from North Korea. "

"In the last two years, however, the North Korean military has stepped up its test launches of a number of new missile variants, demonstrating with the most recent launches that they can travel more than 7,400 miles.

That range is sufficient to put London - which is 5,380 miles from North Korea - within range, with Moscow, Delhi and Sydney also viable targets.

North Korea's most advanced rockets are now also believed to be able to reach virtually all of the continental United States, with only the Florida peninsula presently beyond their range."

Testing missiles estimated able to reach 7450 miles away.

"The Hwasong-13 intercontinental ballistic missile that was last tested in October 2016 is understood to have a range of 7,450 miles and is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead."

How far is USA - California - Los Angeles from Pyongyang North Korea?

about 5900 miles (according to a google link).

So yes, North korea is able to send nukes that reach California.

Estimates are fun, but their missile tests almost always fail or way underperform what they claim to do. While Hawaii is most certainly something that could be targeted (although any missle that would take 20 minutes to land would be shot down well before it reached). There's a bunch of other problems with your post (like how an ICBM =/= nuke), but you really shouldn't given more credit than NK deserves. They're literally several decades behind the curve.
