First, I'd like to say I too enjoyed Phantasy Star and Sega systems as a kid. My first Nintendo system wasn't until the N64, so the nostolgia vs non-nostolgia thing I understand.
But anyway on to a few of the things I have issues with...
I watched a video or two about how Nintendo sends free games to video reviewers. There is a catch. They will only keep sending the games and keep you as a Nintendo partner if you give their games good reviews. So if someone thought Breath of the Wild was only a 5 out of 10, for example, they could terminate the partnership even if the reviewer was giving their honest opinions. This is how it was explained. If true, that is corrupt guys! I don't see why anybody would just up and kill their Nintendo free games coming to give a mediocre score.
A random video on the interet is not a good source of information. People are always saying this about reviewers, whether it's Nintendo or Sony or EA or some other company. They never really have any evidence for it though. It's all just speculation and accusations.
Oh to Virtual Console. I thought it was a great idea! I really like retro games. It was going so well at 3 VC games a week on average on Wii. Then support suddenly started dwindling. 1 game a week. No game some weeks, then months. What a waste of great potential! Now VC is barely supported on any Nintendo System and there may be no VC on Switch.
The Wii VC has nearly every 8-bit and 16-bit game ever made. They added not only Nintendo consoles but Neo Geo, SMS, and Genesis. Support dwindled because there are only so many games you can add. They went above and beyond the call with this one.
Now are the recent things. Switch peripherals are ridiculously priced.
What peripherals are overpriced? Is the Pro controller overpriced? Keep in mind that it costs $10 more, but has an 80 hour battery life, motion controls, and an NFC reader. PS4 and XB1 controllers don't feature any of that but cost $10 less than the pro controller.
Their poor support of Wii U is apparent. They abandoned it too early at 4 years, in my opinion. I think any system should be supported for 5 years at a minimum.
I agree with this 100%. Wii U should have been supported for at least five years. Luckily for us we still got just as many great Wii U exclusives as we got great Wii exclusives.
So to sum it up, the Wii U was abandoned a little too early, and Nintendo was draconian back in the NES days. I think most people would agree with these two things. It's just the manner in which you state it that gets people riled up and disagreeing with you.
