1. They don't want the value of their games and franchises diminished.
2. Because Nintendo platforms don't tend to be as polluted. Steam as the extreme example, is proof to what happens when it gets out of control, out of balance. With demand for each individual game going down, so does the price. Yes, good for indifferent consumer, not for the video game enthusiast who is willing to pay for quality and progress.
3. Not more expensive than a DS4 when PS4 was new on the market.
