But I am!

This sounds like the Star Trek Show all us Joe Rogan fans have been waiting for!

I hope it is all about conspiracies, warrior codes, and how the Federation is evil.

That ending to the 3rd episode though... am I right?

I still think the series is great btw, no idea why so many people seem to dislike it.

This reminds me of FireFly.

I loved that series, yet so many americans seemed to hate it (which lead to it being cancelled).

I dont get all the hate people have for it.

Because it's not the series we, or at least I was waiting for. It feels nothing like Star Trek. Plus the expanse already does this style much better. STD so far feels like a cheap knockoff of ideas thrown together with a high budget. Drop all the star trek stuff and perhaps it could go somewhere and find its own identity.

Firefly was ok, it could have gone on a bit longer but it wasn't a stellar series either, just like Dark Matter. Firefly getting canceled was perhaps the best outcome for it, at least we got a decent movie out of it.

Personally I quite enjoyed Stargate Universe. However I never watched any of the other series so I didn't have any expectations. It's probably why SG:U was disliked. They should have made it a new show, just like they should have done with STD.

Just in case it's not clear. I'm joking. Those are elements I don't like to see in science fiction.

Also, using the Star Trek licence to create a different non-Star Trek show seems like a big waste. Is the Roddenberry estate still in charge of the creative? Who is in charge of maintaining license integrity?

.....

I watched 3 mins of this review.

I laughed so hard at this. OT: I am not a very big Star Trek fan, I put it behind Star Wars and Stargate. But I have really enjoyed the first three episodes of this series so far!

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Stargate is cool too.
I don't really get Star Wars though, to me it feels much more like Harry Potter in Space than Stargate or Star Trek.

I really liked Rogue One, that movie was the bomb. Although I didn't really like not Force Awakens, not Episode 1-3, and the original trilogy is... maybe I just don't think it aged as well as most people do, the very first one, A New Hope is a good movie; but I wouldn't say it's great like Goodfellas, Silence of the Lambs, or many many others - I still enjoy it, but Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi I found way too slow.

I also find some Star Trek films, like Undiscovered Country and First Contact to be better than any Star Wars film - well, maybe not Rogue One, I think that one beats the Star Trek films. I think the main thing is that Stargate and Star Trek both have heavily expansive TV series, while Star Wars just has some weird looking cartoons.

What? Firefly is a huge classic,  it should have never been cancelled

But Rogue One is one of the worst Star Wars movie lol Only better than episode I and II. The story is fine but the direction its so damn poor its a shame. Star Wars V is better than all Star trek films combined btw.

Yet is it not a huge cult classic because it cancelled?

I enjoyed the series the first time around (got the dvd boxset) but couldn't get into it watching it again a few years ago. Also the first time watching it it always felt like it was lacking something. Now most series don't really start to gel until the second season, firefly never had that chance.

That's kind of a vague criticism. What aspect about the direction was poor? Why don't you like Rogue One?

Was the plot not contrived or cliched enough?
Was the acting not bad enough?
Was the dialogue not cringey enough?
Were the characters not inconsistent or goofy enough?
Was the film too violent?
Were there not enough blatant merchandize plugs?

The director was bad (which is even more obvious by looking at his filmography, Godzilla and Monsters lol), there was no talent behind the camera, the scenes were boring and uninspired, it has little value when it comes to cinematography, the humor was dumb and unefective, there is no memorable scenes apart from the end, the story was fine but the execution was mediocre for the most part, only the final act raised the level.

That's not true at all. And who cares about his past films, it's not relevant - Jon Demme made Silence of the Lambs after making Married to the Mob and Something Wild.
Rogue One is a great direction, exciting and incredibly inspired scenes. It has the best part of any Star Wars film, and it's not even close:
