Forums - Nintendo - Is Switch 3rd party support really that impressive?

Wii U may have launched with more third party games but 6 months later it was drying up and as future releases go Switch starts to beat Wii U out, Switch third party:

No More Heroes:TSB
Dragon Quest XI
DQ Warriors Double Pack
DQ Builders 1+2
Doom
Wolfenstein TLC
Skyrim
FIFA
NBA2K
Resident Evil RE Double Pack
Shin Megami V
Octopath Traveler
Atelier Lydie
Dragonball Xenoverse
Sonic Forces
Sonic Mania

The contrast here is that Switch launched and third party titles have been popping up on the platform as time goes by, Wii U launched and they started disappearing off the platform as time went by.

Is Square-Enix already working on a sequel?

Someone has seen my posts. Interesting to see the replies and the scale sliding all over the place. I may restate my opinions later but I posting now to tag for later.

To me, it's not the amount of 3rd party content that's impressive, nor the quality. It's the turnaround. From practically no support and the notion that the Switch is ermmm... doomed, to publishers like Square Enix and Bethesda flocking to the platform en masse.

Switch has great indie games support and average AAA games support. The situation is similar to that of the Wii era. Maybe in 2018 will be even better.

For a Nintendo system it's pretty good. It's not greatboverall though.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Comparing Wii U's third party support to Switch's is pointless. Especially like this. While the Wii U began with better third party support it didn't have a reason to be impressive compared to the competition. Having an Assassins Creed game on an underpowered console is one thing, having it on a portable is another. People getting excited for DooM on Switch is not equivalent to ridiculousness just because Wii U had more support. Wii U fans had less reason to pick up third party games. There is also nothing as demanding as DooM on Wii U, although it could run it.

So from a technical or feature standpoint? There's a reason to act like Switch is a step up.

I do agree that the Switch has a worse 3rd party lineup, but that's static reasoning. Once The Evil Within 2, Dishonored(Why is no one predicting this?), and other games come? It will have amazing support .

Monster Hunter 5 being on PS4 is disappointing but I predicted that in a thread already. To be frank games like Mario+Rabbids and Octopath are more interestibg third party exclusives than Zombi U

That's just plain wrong. Watch Dogs is far more demanding than Doom.

No it's not. Even accounting for Watch Dogs open world it is not nearly as demanding as DOOM.

oh yeah? So that's why Watch Dogs runs on 900p with 30FPS on PS4 while Doom manages 1080p most of the time with an average of roughly 50FPS. Obviously Watch Dogs is more demanding.
