Hadn't heard about it. I actually hadn't even seen a review for Xenoverse! I just said, "Let's see what's on the eShop. Holy crap, Pokken is already... HOLY SHIT DBZ IS OUT!?"

After that, I kinda blacked out and when I came to I already had Dragon Ball Z.

The 2D / 3D shift is one thing but what really distinguishes this game is the rock/paper/scissors-like gameplay between counters, grabs and specials. Specials break grabs, grabs break counters and counters break specials. I like to think that this comes from the nature of being a Pokemon game, and that the evelopers thought they should build the game around this trinity in order to reflect the various element circles in Pokemon games breaking each other.

You know wrong, Tekken 7 has 82 on da Meta, I dunno why the Switch version of Pokken scores higher than the Wii U version, that one barely has 76!

Yeah, I know. My bad. Still, it's ahead of SFV and Marvel v Capcom. The Switch version has more content. 

More content, better framerate, local two player no longer forces somebody to use the gamepad. The original was a half-assed port of the arcade game with not much of a story mode. It lacked all the arcade fighters. 

I had it on Wii U and loved it, it's very accessible and you will find yourself pulling off some super cool moves. Don't be fooled by the simplicity though as it's very competitive online. A very solid fighter I can recommend.
