Forums - Nintendo - Evil Within director would like to port sequel to Nintendo Switch

In an interview with GameSpot, Mikami said, "I think a Switch version would be interesting. I'd like to try it if I had the chance." While not exactly confirmation that such a port is happening, it's at least promising that such a prominent figure in the series (Mikami is acting as producer and supervisor on the sequel) would like to see it happen.

There's at least one small stumbling block however: "First I'd like to buy a Switch myself," Mikami said. "I had to borrow Zelda with the Switch from another staff member to play it."

The Evil Within 2 is being published by Bethesda, a company that is currently in the process of porting Doom, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to Nintendo's hybrid console. If you want to see more of those games, you can now watch eight minutes of Doom on Switch gameplay.

HAHAHHAHA

Oh boy.

There was literally a user in the Bethesda thread saying this would come next! Wow he is awesome.

lmao!!! how understandable!

If they managed to port DOOM, I can't see why this should be a problem. They may port the original too.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I was just saying on Discord that I'd happily trade Doom and Wolfenstein for this. Obviously the more the merrier, but TEW is a growing franchise that needs as much love and attention as possible. Plus TEW is something of a spiritual successor to RE4, a game Nintendo fans know well.

It makes sense. Horror games do have a history on Nintendo and horror in general is a popular genre in Japan. I'd be surprised if this game doesn't come to Switch, though it might depend on how well TEW does on other platforms. If it flops, it might be pushed under the rug.

The more games the merrier. Ill buy downgraded games on switch over my ps4 any day because now im too lazy to stand up and fuck about with my ps4, just pick up switch and boom straight into a game. If Switch gets YT and netflix anytime soon, then shit, thinks its time to say bye bye ps4. Like what happend to my Xbox one, my ps4 made it irrelevent.

IMO in a year or so, we could be looking at

Final Fantasy XV + Dragon Quest XI on Switch, with Final Fantasy VII Remake + KH3 coming

Evil Within 1/2 + Wolfenstein + DOOM + Skyrim + maybe Fallout 4 (?)

GTAV on Switch

Madden NFL + NHL joining FIFA for 2018.

Some type of Call of Duty on Switch.

Not bad, not bad. E tu, Capcom?

all good... more games = good!

Switch!!!

I was thinking that it was kinda weird that this game precisely didn't get ported when DOOM and Wolfenstein 2 did. But someone told me that just like with the original The Evil Within, this game uses a modified version of the ID Tech engine instead of the latest normal iteration (like Doom and Wolfenstein 2 do), so that could be a reason. This studio is always getting stuck with the experimental engine.
