Here's the excerpt:

"In order to ensure fair racing for all, GT Sport will require an internet connection for the majority of functionality. This connectivity requirement is to ensure that progress, car availability and driver ratings are properly maintained at all times.

This doesn’t mean you’ll need PlayStation Plus though. As with all PlayStation titles, PS Plus will only be needed for the online multiplayer, portions of the Arcade Mode, including limited two-player split screen, single player races on select tracks and time trials can still be played offline."

So, it sounds like it's only for online multiplayer? But I guess it could be sneaky wording by Sony.

PS+ is required for online MP. Even the single player stuff, like progressing through the "campaign", requires an online connection.

Which hey, IDGAF about an online connection being required. But that is surprising. I'm more bummed about the lack of a real GT career mode.

This reminds me of Street Fighter V. I dont think you could earn any fight money while offline.

Perhaps they plan on raping people with microtransactions?

I would not even consider buying GT Sport at launch. But I will gladly buy it when its 20 bucks and probably a better product.

I'm out of here, this thread is full of people who suck up to gt and polyphony, and eat anything they crap out. They are a lost cause and live in 2003. Adios.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Im not suggesting the studio should be cut off.

And you are right: im 100% basing my worries in hypotheticals. But after reading several negative previews, with most of them complaining about the lack of content, there is a high, almost certain chance that critics will be punishing the game with low scores.

We should wait and see, and maybe revisit this thread after the games release.

You quoted me asking what should they do, in response to me saying that the last thing that should happen is a cut off. Hence my reply.

And your last line sounds awfully familiar. :P

I was a massive fan of GT all the way up to the HD demo on ps3 which showed promise, but the massive gaps in between releases and the shrinking feature set just turned me off completely, GT5 was the last GT I'll ever own because it seems clear to me that while polyphony were at the cutting edge back when they released omega boost and GT1 through 3 back in the day, their team no longer has what it takes to release a quality title in a timely manner that doesn't ship with what is essentially glaring oversights and corner cutting.

Reusing ps2 vehicles in a ps3 game to save time?, using the same lifeless droning engine sounds practically forever, spending 95% of their time on lighting and car models and seemingly 5% of their time on creating the tracks, and outsourcing the design of trees and grass to the studios pet dog.

GT was like sonic right up until the release of sonic mania, in that ever new releases only further serves as a demonstration of how little the studio understands what made their franchise successful to begin with.

There was a time that I'd pour over magazine scans eagerly awaiting the release date so I could book a few days off work and sink my teeth into the latest release, now the series is so far off my radar i didnt know GT6 had released until I saw it in the pre-owned section several months after release.

Except they didn't used the PS2 models to save time, they didn't remove the models to have variety. They had more premium models than any racer launched at the time had cars at all.

That's false.

Forza 3 had 400 cars. Forza 4 had 570 cars. They did use ps2 models to save time. It took this much time because they work at a smail's pace. If they they tried to make 1000 new cars gt5 would still haven't been released to this day.

Did I ever say "sim"? Nope. Even then, Project cars beats it in that category. I said driveclub will be the vastly better GAME than GT sport. That 10M was 7 years ago. Since then GT6 has only got 5M. How do you know it's well done if you haven't played the game yourself? Talk about hipocrisy.

Hm. Gran Turismo 6 sold 5 million? Hm...2013. It released in 2013? What happened in 2013? Hm...ugh.....what was it. Something happened....fuccck.. I can't remember! What was it in 2013? Hmmmmmm.... nevermind, guess it was nothing like coming out the holiday of one of the fastest selling consoles ...

That's sony's fault to release it on the ps3 after the ps4 came out...............so what are you trying to blame here?

Oh i'm not blaming anyone, just showcasing that saying that x game only sold y amount is not looking at the context.

GT is a sim and that is what their public want. And PC is very bad sim in case you don't know, it get nowhere near beating any GT game. Saying Street Fighter is a better game than Mario (being true or not) means anything when their public is different? Nope. So your point is useless... again you are basing your point in an unreleased game, Hipocrisy? Nope I played GT 1-6 and know the quality to expect from GT Sport, so expecting it to be better than DC isn't hipocrisy, but since you brought it, how can you evaluate GT Sport to be sure it will be worse than DC for sure?

Yes GT6 "only sold 5M" show which other racing IP got it. Owww besides MK none.

You know I wish that I could say GT dissapointed me again. But by now I doubt that's even possible. The tracks and environments look bad, hell the whole gamd looks bad except for the cars. GT5 had a butload of content to justify the long development time. But this game has less content than Forza 5 and now also the online only bullshit bandwagon.

The game aim is completely different and it was made from ground up on new engine, new assets by a team that is 1/3 of Turn 10.

People who are into racing games are much more positive on Pcars and Pcars 2 than GT sport. Of course normal people favour GT sport, because of the brand name. The argument is more like cod infinite Warfare vs Doom, where the more popular one isn't neccessarily the better one. People who are into racing know that there is a huge shortage of content (many of the 177 cars are race clone variants, see for yourself), and very underwhelming for 4 years of work.
