Forums - Nintendo - L.A. Noire will cost more on Switch than Ps4 and Xbox One

Click on the picture and see the following answers

EDIT :

To sum up : 32gb card + platform fee + packaging costs is 20$ approximately whereas it's around 12$ for PS4 / XBO (60% more, like Zhuge said)

Well, the only instance of a third-party game trying to get away with that on a Nintendo platform was Persona Q and its LE, at a whopping $110.

I recently found one lying around for $50, new.

Special editions are jackd up because of the extras, not the game card itself.

It's intended to be an example of how the audience can and will avoid games that go overboard on the extra price. There's a reason the "Atlus tax" is being dropped going forward on the 3DS.

Heck, every $50 LE on the 3DS released by Altus (with the exception of Stella Glow), I've found discounted, new.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I dont care, it's still posible . hell even no one can predicted that old games can cost more then the old price. And also we also have inflation and so on. The fact that we have this games more expensive is just another prove no one can guarantee LMAO

Sure, and PS4 games could cost $300 next week.

Yes it's posible for sure,  everithing can but it will be less expensive then Switch games for sure

But Sony could become more greedy and charge a bigger platform fee, making italways cost more than Switch games.Goddamn you platform fees!

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Yes they could, but they are are not charging it for  LA Noire. And also they already charge people with their online fee. SO that's fair for them.

And none of this address Puyo Puyo Tetris or Rime which are $10 more as well with no justificstion being on 2GB and 8 GB carts respectively.  And that's assuming Rime on Switch is the same file size as PS4.  It's small enough that it could almost squeeze into a 4 GB cart.  And those fly in the face of Sonic Forces which is in a similar situation but no price hike.  And NBA 2K is at least on a 16 GB, maybe a 32 GB (we'll see), and no price hike.  And Skyrim has to be at least on a 16 GB cart, same launch price as the Special Edition.  If it was a serious hit, hikes should at least be consistent.

We have already talked about PuyoPuyo. Just because you ignore the reason doesnt make it not true. It included physical items in the box and the digital version was exactly the same as the PS4 version. The added soundtrack in Rime costs $10 as a solo buy.

Another answer: increased prices for below minimum order of carts.

The physical release of NBA for Switch is delayed and its digital only upon release with the other releases: of course there is no price hike in this case. That is obvious.

Maybe Take2 is seeing market response before comitting to pricey card order per

So Skyrim is $60.  Going any higher is just suicide for the game price wise. and $60 should reasonably cover a 16gb cart order.

"When we spoke to analyst Daniel Ahmad, he stated that he feels publishers using a 32GB game card are very unlikely to price a game lower than $40 due to their margins, but at the same time it is not like they will start attempting to charge exorbitant prices such as $70 or $80 either – we thankfully won't see a return to the days of the SNES and N64. $60 full price games will remain $60 full price games, because the margin is high enough. However, pricing less than $40 is felt to be a real challenge from a business point of view for publishers. Let’s not forget that another slice of the pie goes for the retailer’s cut for selling the games; it's a delicate balance."

Sony and Nintendo are not the sellers of this game.  Rockstar Games is.  The price is up to I think every games that comes to

i think they charge 3rd party publisher as well , and also if there is some deal with it the price can be diffrent,  and also because you mention that . It even more posible they increase the price then the normal standard price ( EA did this a long time ago )

Interesting thread, haha.

I suggest reading this article- http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/09/feature_exploring_the_switch_tax_and_why_nintendo_was_right_to_use_game_cards

and

this post on NeoGAF- http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=248391413#post248391413

I also want to make clear, I'm not defending publishers or Nintendo or anything like that. I'm simply explaining the cost of carts and how that can lead to games being priced higher. I suggest reading the article in full as it should provide a good overview of everything.

Then why is L.A. Noire the same price for all three platforms in some regions?

Also why is FIFA18 $10 cheaper on switch than PS4/ONE for some regions?
