I would agree but I think they are using their head for once.  Let GTAIV sell a ton of consoles then cut the price as they would have gained enough cash to afford a price cut in their entertainment division. With the Yahoo deal in the air, they can't afford to cut prices very easily.

 

2) Bundles (GTA IV) - Let's spend $50 million dollars on extra content, but lets not bundle the game with the console because that would be too intelligent... WTF MS?? How dumb are you people.. But then what else could you expect from the same people who sold a Halo 3 Sku WITHOUT THE FREAKING GAME!!

Common sense says their SKUs make no sense.  The arcade bundle is insanely stupid as it makes customers still have to buy an HDD like the Core SKU did.  Why make it so that developers have to put that "Needs HDD" icon on games?  Is it to piss customers and developers off at the same time?

 

3) European Prices - Hey "European Pricing Dude"!!! Buy a Calculator and look up CONVERSION RATES.. you crazy bastard...

Ya their pricing sucks overall anyways,  look at the launch price of the 120GB HDD, it still is a ripoff GB to $$ but still isnt as bad as it was originally.

But seriously, what the hell is wrong with MS, I'm really starting to believe that they're trying to lose this console race. Why so much time in between price cuts? All their doing is giving more time to Sony to lower their production cost and letting them keep up with any MS price cuts.

 The US was already getting the system for really cheap compared to the rest of the world so its price cuts would be less overall then the rest of the world.  The US dollar has gone down alot since the 360 came out so in a way they have given the US a price cut.  The 360 has also seen price cuts of $150 in Canada on the Pro model in the last 8months or something.  

The PS3 has not really seen a $200 price cut in the US, the 60gb unit was launched at $600, while a gimped 40gb unit is now selling at $400.  That would be like Microsoft getting rid of the Pro and only having the arcade and saying its a $200 price cut.  If you add the $400 40gb PS3, the PS2 at $130, add in another 20gb HDD and ad more USB ports.  You find out that both companies have cut the price of their system $50 since launch.

I agree with most you said. The 360 needs a price cut in America. Although, I'll point out the ps3 only had a $100 price cut with some feature tweaking.
20 GB - $499 went to a 40 GB (No Backwards Compatibility) for $399
60 GB - $599 went to a 80 GB for $499

But regardless, I understand your point...MS has been out twice as long and has only decreased the price minimally in the US compared to the ps3...which shows its strength (but it's time to decrease it before the ps3 gains too much momentum).

As far as point 2...A bundle would be great, in all honesty, I think it would be more beneficial to the 360 version than the extra downloadable content MS bought. I'm sure MS plans on recouping some of the $$$ they bought the exclusive content with when they sell it for $5-$10 a pop on LIVE.

As far as Europe, I think it's too late for MS--especially after this latest price decrease (GTAIV will be the final straw). Too much momentum has shifted in favor of Sony and Sony hasn't really had to do anything to cause it...consumers have just decided they prefer the playstation brand in Europe.

Price cuts only work if you sell enough additional boxes to make up for the revenue on boxes you would have sold anyway. Do you really thin price cuts right now would move that many more boxes? You have to seel a lot of extra stuff to cover the $50 or $60 on 75k units a week or whatever it is.

I'm willing to bet production costs per system have dropped more than you think. The problem is that MS set aside $1billion for RROD repairs. In other words, for every system MS has sold so far, $50 have been set aside to repair said systems. There goes your price cut Gebx.

Basically, prices in Europe suck...
Launch PS3 was £435 against $600, and that was without the emotion engine (that is estimated to cost $20)

PS3 is now £300 against $400, with the 360 the Elite is £250 against $450, so Europeans do get a good deal for once

I would agree but I think they are using their head for once. With the Yahoo deal in the air, they can't afford to cut prices very easily. I agree on the principle... they care about making profit right now... their are still largely second and can earn money to cover the RRoD expanse and other stuff, and just make profit.... then a price cut around christmas again or gears 2 and a big one could be more efficient than a price cut before GTA.... now about yahoo I don't think so.... they are giving money to a company that be theirs after... the actual cost of the company for MS won't be what they pay, yahoo has a value on the market already... it's not like they invested that much to create a new company...

 yeap without saying that bundled games like that, usually total price is really close to the 2 bought separately... i'm not sure the investment is worse it on a market already that advanced... will it move enough system to justify the cost (packaging, special design, marketing and advertising campaign)

well usually in europe on the hardware/electronic device... the price tag in euro is the same in dollar... meaning that $60 in USA = 60€ in europe.... look at the lcd TVs dell computer, applestore... usually the figure of the MSRP out of special offers is the same just the currency symbol change.... that's old news... before it was more interesting for US people to buy in europe... now it's the opposite.... (i'm glad I come with my euros in USA right now lol).... now GB it's another story they play their own game can't help them lol :P
