Forums - Nintendo - Game Freak on why Pokemon Gray never happened, still interested in remakes

The problem with Pokemon in two sentences.

Well, I don't mind it myself. I'd rather that than theym trying to go like Final Fantasy where they get rid of the turn-based combat.

Lol, for some reason I didn't think they were talking about remakes but rather why they don't change the game much. My mind is silly! Remakes are fine

Pokemon gen 4 remakes on the switch? Makes me pretty excited

I hope they are either really good looking 3D games or they go back to a 2D perspective.

I would love to see what they can do with their new cinematic style and 2D artwork.

The models are already nice. If I recall, the ones from Pokedex and Sun/Moon are the same. Only difference is that the SM ones are scaled down or something.

I think using the pokedex model and having better textures and shadowing is all that's needed.

Easy answer is that making 2 more versions instead of a third version equals more money. With the newest gen, I hated that there was no in-game national dex, made me lose interest even quicker. That coupled with no vs seeker/rebattleable trainers (save the elite four) makes me not come back to the game. Those are the reasons why I still play platinum/heart gold/omegaruby instead of black/white, x/y, and sun/moon.

I also dislike the fact that they are trying to appeal to the kanto crowd. I mean, look I'm 24 and have been playing since red/blue/yellow, but I look forward to the new gens with the new regions and new Pokémon. It's bull that they are mainly making references to kanto, I mean all the alolan form Pokémon were kanto ones, I was waiting to see ones from gen 2 and up, but no they got to try and bring back the "nostalgic crowd". I really wouldn't be surprised if the next remakes were remakes of Red and Blue again to try and capitalize more on Pokémon nostalgia.

I'm a lot more curious why Pokémon Z never happened. It was needed to complete the XYZ-axis to play on the entire point of the 3DS. I get that it was a hook nobody cared about but dangit, see it through.

The part I don't like is that they will remake Diamond/Pearl instead of Platinum, which was the more feature complete game. But hey, there's always hope. Maybe they add all the new mons from platinum in the remakes (rotom forms, glaceon/leaden, electrivire, etc).

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Just focus on Pokemon Switch.

I think the bigger question is why Pokemon Z didn't happen.

But I wish they'd just stop with the BS milking with multiple versions of the same game.

The third versions (yellow, emerald, platinum) etc wouldn't be too bad if they let owners of the original buy it as DLC. It's essentially like a GOTY version, except the owners of the original have no option to upgrade and have to pay full price anyway.

It's honestly disgusting, but they get away with it as it's been the same since 96.

As for remakes... I'd be happy with them remaking Red every gen.
