I suppose the rarity gives it a boost in certain locales, which are rarely used as settings. But I doubt it is everywheye, ie I doubt Assassins Creed Syndicate sold better in London due to its setting (the same with GTA).

Are Dracula/vampire stories in general popular in Romania?

Not for all cases but it's definitely helped some games in the past. Here in Australia there was a lot of talk about FH3 because it was set here. Having all the little details in a game be familiar is really cool when it doesn't happen often
Well funnily enough I'm Indian myself, and the fact that this was set in india was a huge selling point to me. I wasn't interested in uncharted 4, but I am in this. I bought it even though I don't have a PS4 (played it with a friend's ps4, will try to get one for myself soon).
Bet with Intrinsic:
The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
Sleeping Dogs launch in Hong Kong was huge copies sold out everywhere they priced it up almost 50% cause the demand was really high did a really good couple of months.
Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

It helped it was one of the first game son the PS3 so came with the console but it was fascinating seeing the comparisons of streets I've walked down to what the developers had created in the game. I didn't buy it because it was in the UK but a nice bonus.
This said, I think the Getaway being in London with real London locations/accents/cars did help that in the UK. This helped me buy it.
Hmm, pie.
A lot of games (especially Ubisoft and EA games) are made here in Canada. Sure, we do have a large gaming market, but it doesn't hold a candle to the US. So sure, it could help in some instances - overall though, I doubt the effect is big.
Misread your post. But no, I don't think a game's location makes too much difference.
Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

You mean syndicate, unity was set in Paris.

Which parts of Romania have better relative sales for Castlevania? I wouldn't be surprised if it did better in Transylvania than in what used to be Wallachia :P |
I don't think the differences is that big. The whole country is PC-land, so Castlevania is not really that popular here.
