Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo promises to ramp up Switch production for the holidays

They ramped it up by 740,000 units in the first month didn't they?

I believe not. My theory is that those were just units they were gonna store to save for future game launches (MK8D, Arms, Spla2n), but they decides to ship them ASAP to meet demand/beat their expectations on the short term. That's why we saw them use air fright to ship systems overseas (instead of the usual sea fright), and why we saw very low numbers in April through May.

But just my theory.

(I kind of believe that too, but I don't want to : / )

You also got the workers in Africa getting paid shit wages to get the resources that are used.

Switch resources come from Africa or China?

I believe a lot of the resources come from Africa, and the assembly is done in China. Could be wrong though.

So then again,  I say why can't they ramp up production at anytime?

It's not sustainable long-term with the current situation.

What is the current situation,  you got some insider news?

It's my thought process, if they could feasibly do it all the time, they would.

Seems gamestop and Japan have a steady flow. If they cannot do it all the time that is just bad business.  They have the money to make it happen. Stocks are high and investors are happy.

I imagine they have most of the same partnerships that they had in the Wii/DS days.  Just need to push it.

I'm too tired to really get into this right now, sorry Spurge.

Good. I just bought a copy of Breath Of The Wild for the Switch at Walmart. However... I couldn't buy the console because it's sold it in every store near me. I'm gonna have to wait for the Splatoon 2 bundle that launches on September 8 in order to get one. Now I just get to stare at the game for 2 weeks before playing it.

This must be you right now:

Why in the world is WSJ still talking about 18 million for this fiscal year? Even 18 million for FY3/2017 and FY3/2018 combined would be a stretch, because that would be 15.26 million during this fiscal year. Nintendo cannot possibly produce that many units. If they could, they would not have only shipped 1.96 million during Q1. They would've shipped over 3 million, like with the Wii.

Probably because that's their target in production, which probably won't be met however due to part scarcity.

Q1 was really bad from a shipment standpoint, but I'm optimistic Q2 will be quite a bit higher than Q1. 3M or even a bit more sounds like in the realm of possible considering the shipments since Splatoon 2 release in Japan and recent news of more shipments to the west

And why not before that?
