I believe he did finally Tuesday right before noon. There were numerous articles calling him out and then a few pointing out that they finally started taking people in. "If you need a shelter we could have been a shelter from day one if they wanted that," Osteen said. "You just have to be here to see that, No. 1, the city runs the shelters, what they need us to do – they asked us for a distribution center and you see hundreds and thousands of volunteers came out." "Lakewood Church began taking in Harvey evacuees Tuesday afternoon." Basically they are putting a few hundred people maybe on the second floor of building.
I'm not trying to defend the douchebag because I hate megachurches but apparently the backlash has changed them from a distribution center into a shelter. |
Well atleast he did, I just saw the backlash posts yesterday. The death counter still rising, forget the wall for the next budget, budget for nature crisis help needs to go up.
Houston also had floods last year and they did not learn: http://www.houstonchronicle.com/local/gray-matters/article/Don-t-blame-Mother-Nature-for-flooding-Blame-7257240.php

Also, you live in Austin? I'm in Pflugerville! We should hang out :D |
I'm Round Rock actually but it's considered Austin area considering Austin is so damn expensive to live in now. My response might have sounded bitter but I just had to point out humans aren't in control of the environment and when they think they are they usually fuck shit up more so when a disaster does strike it only becomes worse. Yea, I feel sorry for the people that lost their homes, died, etc but people have to assume whatever environmental risks there are wherever they live.
Anyways, I wouldn't mind hanging out but currently I'm still a pothead.

Yea, Houston might as well be New Orleans because that is about almost how safe it is to live there. They are prone to flooding and basically everyone that lives there after this storm needs to be forced to have flood insurance. They need to redraw the floodplains.
Casualties have been confirmed at 24 (according to CNN), though others sources are reporting 30+.
Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Nop, he got a new paragraph at wikipedia tho: Hurricane HarveyIn late August 2017, Osteen faced widespread criticism for Lakewood Church not housing evacuees at the start of the floods that followed Hurricane Harvey.[46][47][48][49] In response, a spokesperson for Lakewood Church, Don Iloff, said the property was inaccessible because of surrounding floodwaters and the building itself had been flooded,[50] and announced that they would open the doors once city-run shelters were at capacity.[51] He explained that, "It’s not our unwillingness, it’s just practicality. It’s been a safety issue for us". [52]Iloff also claimed that "We were never closed".[53] Lakewood Church opened to evacuees on August 29.[54] |
What a cunt. These mega rich pastors need to start practising what they preach.
My brother, sister-in-law and lots of friends and other family live in Houston. My brother and his family have now flooded 3 times in 3 years, this one being the worst. They had 4 ft of water in their house and had to be evacuated by boat, landed up at the George R. Brown and were rescued by a friend living in midtown.
Climate change is a bitch huh?
If you think Huston has it bad, you should know that 1/3 of Bangladesh is underwater, most of south Asia is really taking horrible hit. Huston is just the peak of the problem, Here is good report on it:

And here is the one on South Asia:

Tsunami's in Japan in 2011, levee's in New Orleans in 2005, terrorists flying planes into buildings in 2001, people running innocent people over with their cars, cops killing innocent people, isis beheading people, tornados killing thousands in 2011... after awhile, you just learn that this is life on planet earth and you tune it out. Tragedy happens.
Casualties have risen to 47 according to CNN.
