Forums - Nintendo - Anger Mounting Over SNES Classic Pre-Orders

I don't get it. Nintendo KNOWS people want this stuff. Yet they INTENTIONALLY make limited quantities to make them "rare".

It's a garbage way of doing business. Nintendo needs to pull their heads out of their proverbial butts.

I am grateful that I still have TWO NES AND SNES's. So I'll never bother with this "mini" nonsense.

You want to know what else Nintendo knows?  That there are fourms full of people like myself who've made their Wii a "Virtual Console" with every NES, SNES, GB, GBA, Gamecube and Wii game you can think of.

No seriously, if you want a NES/SNES classic, and are tired of Nintendo's intentional rarity bullshit, and have a free weekend and a Nintendo Wii, you've got both plug-n-plays at your fingertips.  It's a google serach away...

This is exactly my point in my other thread. Nintendo is screwing up customer trust. It doesn't matter if your opinion is the blame should be on scalpers/retailers... the consumers will blame, rightfully, Nintendo.

Yep, I was pretty pissed at Nintendo for what happened with the NES Classic.  It was almost like a slap in face or having a fucking carrot dangle in front of your face.  I'm not going to bend over backwards to try and buy the damn thing.  Produce enough fucking product so an actual consumer can go into a store or order online hassle free.  How fucking hard is that... Apparently too hard.

Originality...

How many units do we expect Nintendo to produce ahead of time?
If they made ten million units for preorder that would be over half a billion USD in inventory.
There are not many companies in the world that could handle the warehouses / capital required to store all of that.

The thing also to point out is that Nintendo doesn't have their own manufacturing lines. They have to pay for manufacturing lines with as much orders as they can order. Its not a simple snap of the finger as its not as accessible when needed. That's what they have been facing with Switch manufacturing, especially since there is a year round shortage of the NAND memory chip.

I don't know how many would want this (though having Star Fox 2 and Yoshi's Island would entice customers who want to play these games), given most of the games are either emulated in other avenues or they have the original console and all.

You can't compare scarcity of Switch to the NES/SNES Classics.  There is nothing holding production back except Nintendo.  I work contract manufacturing.  You just described a part shortage of a component that goes into the Switch and somehow applied it to NES/SNES Classic.  Guess what?  There are no part shortages for NES/SNES Classic editions.

There are plenty of NES Classics available on Ebay and I'm sure it'll be the same with the SNES Classic.

Do you feel like paying 3-4 times MSRP for a product that isn't even a year old?  Me either.

Thank God for emulators

These should be stocking stuffers. I mean wtf are they thinking. Last year if people could walk into a store and pick up one or god fucking forbid a few systems. Do you not think people in their 40s or 30s would get one, two or more for themselves and a family members. You know like someone trying expose a younger relative to games they grew up on. Man what a crazy idea.

I wouldn't mind if Nintendo would release all of the games available on the snes classic via the VC on switch for the same price. Same goes for NES classic. But meh, not happening.
The said that they wanted to increase the amount of devices, but at the same time we are talking about the snes here. The demand is even higher than on the classic and its short controller cords.
Nintendo has even trouble to get their Switch out thanks to apple.

It's a shitty situation for Nintendo and of course the customer. I havn't watched sterlings video, but I assume it's just some ignorant entitled childish rant.

SNES games still sell for a boatload these days. I guess I can rest assured that the existence of the SNES Classic don't devalue my collection.

Roms will never devalue the real carts because they're cheap, inaccurate knock offs. It's like saying fake Rolex watches devalue real Rolex watches.

What's fake about them exactly?

I have no doubt that Nintendo is struggling to manufacture enough Switchs, amiibo, and classic consoles while also still making their other things like the New 2DS XL.

My only issue with them is that they've STILL taken no steps to deal with the scalping problem. Simply placing a small limit (like 2 or 3) on purchases by account and card number would help enormously, and yet they just don't seem to give a shit.

I don't even bother to try to get these things anymore.

Limited edition is limited.. Its not that hard to understand.. They cant please everyone, be f**king happy they made more this time

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)
