Ps2 isn't killing anything. The wii is still going strong despite the ps2 ports.

killing was an exaggeration on my part

The Wii is not keeping the PS2 alive.  The PS2 is not killing the Wii.  Both systems are currently expanding gaming and good for the market.  I have never been a big fan of the PS2 but if lots of people like it, that is a good thing.  I love the amazing gameplay experinces the Wii allows and if that expands the market, yeah!

Another way to look at it, is all of the PS2 ports the Wii is getting wouldn't exist at all if it weren't for the PS2.

There might be no:

Rockband Wii
Baroque
Guitar Hero 3
Alone in the Dark
Ghostbusters Wii
Starwars: The Force Unleashed Wii

or many other games if it wasn't for the PS2 sticking around for a little while longer than we all expected.

It's not certain that these games would even be ported to a lower graphical standard if there wasn't more than one system for them to be ported to.

Don't listen to the anti-Wii talking points. The PS2 brings more games to the Wii, that it takes exclusivity away from the Wii. I say, let it go on forever, cause that just means more quality Wii ports.

Guitar Hero 3 Wii is not a PS2 port.  To many people (me included) it is the best version of GH3.  Of all those games, only Rockband seems like a PS2 port and there is added content.

Of course, you might have been joking :)

Woah, woah, woah. Mono sound in a new Music/Rhythm game while every version has proper sound.

And the guitar thing is your opinon and you don't even mention the 360. Is the Wii version the best because you stick the Wiimote in the guitar. That makes it the best?

Dude, it really is the best.  The rumble support, the quality of the guitar itself, and the feel of the buttons are just much better with the Wii guitar.  Not to mention, it had WAAAY less technical issues than the 360 or PS3 guitars.  There really is no debate on this.  This is coming from somone who has both versions (360 and Wii).  I wish I could use the Wii guitar on the 360, it's THAT good.

I wasn't joking, you missed the point. These games are very similar to their PS2 counterparts. In fact, most of them have their own development studios that are developing the PS2 and Wii version, completely seperate from the 360 and PS3 versions.

If the PS2 didn't exist, those companies might not go to the trouble of hiring a seperate developer to develop a version of the game just for the Wii.

I also own the Wii version of Guitar Hero 3, it's great. Most people take the slightest inadequacy and use it as a reason to degrade one version of a game. No DLC for instance. People that have no interest in Rock Band or the Wii, use no DLC in Wii Rock Band to degrade the Wii version of the game.

I'm saying, basically, the PS2 isn't hurting the Wii as much as you think, and in fact might be helping it in some cases.

Who' to say there would even be a Rock Band Wii it there weren't already an easily portable PS2 version? Nobody will say that, that's who.

I'm not hoping the PS2 dies. I also think the Wii, could just possibly still do ok if the PS2 stays alive another 12 months, wouldn't you say?

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I agree with you, that the Wii version of hardware is the best, because the clanks come from the guitar itself.

However, the Wii version has no DLC.

So, honestly, there can be a debate. Your opinion isn't ever absolute.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I think it helps more then it hurts.

PS2/Wii combinations allow a much larger userbase... more then when you combine a PS360.

When you count PS360 combined userbases it outnumbers the wii.

The Wii will be fine regardless of when the PS2 is discontinued. It will help push some devs in the right direction when it is but many will just remain lazy. All in all its a minor issue even if you want to be pessimistic about it.

Yes, the Wii had a sounds problem (unlike the PS2 version) which was corrected.  The Wii guitar feels the best and sounds the best.  Have you tried the other guitars?  I didn't like the feel of the 360 guitar and the PS2 guitar was too light for me.

Wii version may have the Best Guitar due to its unique rumble feature and the internal speaker, but it has shitty Mono Sound, Broken Online system with Friend Codes plus No DLC, plus the guitar most likely won't work with Rockband Wii.
