I think it could certainly work. A twisted game like Majora's Mask in a SoulBorne setting with similar cryptic lore elements would be fantastic!

I mean, Nintendo can make solid content. I honestly think Nintendo works best with mature games when they work with others. Xenoblade, Bayonetta 2, Metroid Prime, etc. Call their games whatever their want, but I honestly think they work best with games for all ages. Once they have another studio tag along, they're more capable of reaching specific audiences. 

I'm not too sure if a ZeldaxSouls series would touch anyone, but perhaps we'll see something soon. I'm hoping we see Bayonetta 3 or Metroid Prime be the first mature Nintendo games on the Switch

Platinum Games worked well with Ninty. if you asked me this 20 years ago, I'd say no. Nowadays however, I believe Nintendo is capable of not being the driver as long as they don't believe it tarnishes the IP's brand. Ubisoft got control of Mario and they did well with it (to our surprise). If they believe Fromsoftware wouldn't ruin Link, then they'd be the co-leader.

Nintendo's IP images are very important. They wouldn't allow a MarioxGTA crossover for this specific reason.
