Forums - Nintendo - Will there be enough Switch available for Christmas 2017?

Forget about it, as soon as Mario Odyssey arrives on the storeshelves it'll be sold-out for most of the holidays

Around the Network

It'll be sold out at Christmas for sure, I predict maybe we'll see some in stock August - October.

Since you mentioned Black Friday, if you must get it cheap, I'd say wait for next year. Maybe some retailer will decide it's worth the bloodbath to advertise Switch at a discount and get more customers.

That's big question, I hope there will be, I would say chances are 50-50% currently.

They promised to ship 10M in the fiscal year. If they ship 2M every quarter like this last, the minimum expected for october to december is 4M.
But also, they said they would increase the production. They also manage to do this at they first month: predicted shipping 2M, but actually shipped 2.7M.
If keeping the same ratio, they would ship 5.4 oct-dec. Wont be enough, but also not a disaster

A holiday season will guarantee the Switch being automatically sold out almost everywhere

TBH, with the Switch out on the market for the first holiday season, I'll make a bold prediction and say Black Friday participants and sales will increase drastically in retail stores this year.

Whether that means there will be enough Switches is another issue.

^Oh wow, if you thought black Friday was bad before, just you wait when it comes to people trying to get their hands on the Nintendo Switch.

I dont actually think Black Friday was THAT bad the past 2 years. Back when Black Friday was actually on Friday, every store was jampacked when they opened at 12 AM until 8 AM, and it was still swarmed when they reopened 2 hours later. However lately ever since they moved Black Friday to Thanksgiving Day and offer every deal online early (which is utterly stupid considering most Black Friday sales happen with deals people didnt see IN stores, and offering deals people want online in unlimited stock defeats the purpose of Black Friday. There's data proving Black Friday has fallen, but that's for another discussion). With the Switch being so hard to find though, you're gonna see more people out and about, and as a result I think sales in retailers will go up SIGNIFICANTLY, all due to Switch.

I don't think so. Unless they'll ship more through the holidays. Better to get one as soon as possible. People said that there are Switches available recently. I've went to my nearest Wallmart yesterday, and Switch is out of stock.
It really differs from location.

If they continue to produce only 600.000 systems per month, supply will not meet demand.
