Thanks to consoles Asia is finally making singleplayer games and not only cheap f2p pc multiplayer games with microtransactions.

What if they happen to like the latter?. They haven't objected to it for eyars and it's not the only thing they have within that market either.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Sony produces unique games all the time. Issue is, the narrative has changed - for some reason (I know why). This is par for course for them as long as I've gamed on their machines.

I'll admit that when I saw your response I thought you were extrapulating too much out of my comment. But I guess when I typed that comment, I was more or less thinking about the climate of games Sony was producing in regards to their unique-ness.

I both agree and disagree with you. Sony produces games like The Last Guardian(my GOTY after Overwatch last year), and Gravity Rush 2 which I still need to get to. But, I wouldn't say they produce unique games "all the time", unless you're talking about publishing 3rd parties which is obviously a different story.

Uncharted is having a 5th entry for no real reason, God of War is becoming more like the TLOU and instead of doing an amazonian theme goes for a Nordic theme(seriously...Nords are getting so tired at this point), there's another David Cage game, there's another Last of Us, and even when they took a small studio on the vita and let them publish a big budget title on the PS4, they made another zombie game ....

I think Playstation's *brand* really speaks uniqueness but that's because 3rd parties are constantly providing weird and interesting exclusive content, not Sony. I can't really blame Sony directly because it seems like they more or less just let their developers do what they want to personally do. But even Horizon disappointed me with how much it reminded me of Rise of  the Tomb Raider, although I still love the unique enemy design.

The narrative hasn't changed for no reason. It's changed for a pretty good reason honestly. Sony used to be the company to jump to a new squeaky clean ship every generation and now you're seeing a continuation of the PS3 with new ips that don't offer much difference except Horizon and TLG. I guess I just feel disappointed because I owned a PS3 for a month, and in that short time I experienced so many amazing games like Uncharted or Killzone. And the PS4 took forever just to offer the same experiences, not even different ones. Although I guess this is all pointless, because we dont 'know if this game will even get attention outside china, or if it will even be a big game.

what!!!playstation always has most diverse games whether its first party or thid party.from cartoony games like knack crash rachet lbp teraway evgolf to realistic games tlou uc gow, to wierd niche  games like last guardian,gr,freedom wars.can u say the same for microsoft and nintendo.on the top of that they get more third party games than ms and nintendo combined.playstion console always appeal to every type of gamer..but there are a lort of improvement to be made like making more family friendly kiddy games, online shooters and some gaas type of games.they should follow nintendo and make some small budget online shooter like splatoon or even an online ratchet and clank shooter.

Sony puts money behind most their 3rd party exclusives......meaning they "produced" them

Correct, and they've been doing it since the PS1 days. Whether they publish or create, these types of games are nothing new for them.

Lol, I was obviously talking about creation and not publishing. Microsoft publishes unique games.

I'm talking about their first party big games. Ratchet and Clank, Crash, and Knack are a step in the right direction but they're practically legacy fanservice, their not very creative and aren't a sign of PS's general exclusive line up. Gravity Rush and Last Guardian I already said. I think the problem with Playstation is that so much of their unique titles were exclusive to Vita and some are coming over as sequels(which aren't unique really) or aren't coming over at all. When it comes to creativity Sony really relies on Japan Studio and not their biggest franchises, which I think is a wrong way of thinking.

Their diversity is incredible but their heavy hitters are becoming pretty one note at this point. I don't hate PS, frankily I criticize them more than other companies becuase they can do better. They still have the best exclusive line up overall but it's not very creative i'd say.

As was I, since I noted it, but that's besides the point.

Well ilf you want to say that Sony has done this ever since you've been playing on Sony, then sure, they did it like once or twice on PS4. All I said was that I'm glad to see a Sony developed game being somewhat creative and unique. And then you extended it to Sony published or funded games. Sony has a pretty wide range of third party exclusives that are creative, but that's not what I was talking about. So I don't really see your point. Aside from a few games Sony does not usually create completely original or creative games. I guess I just don't get what your point is. Yeah Sony has done stuff like this sometimes but this is still pretty unique and not something you see from Sony often(if the information is correct and this is being developed by Sony, not just bought or funded).

They can like that. I don't.

i agree that their first party heavy hitters are kinda same in how they look and i think they should reduce their budget a little bit and create 2 or 3 AA games using the budget of one AAA flashy game.ps4 needs more games like ratchet and clank and sly cooper and crash.thats why i said they should learn a lot from nintendo.create low budget unique  AA games and make more profit from it.with this strategy they can double their output and also reduce the risk of closing studios.i mean look at games like horizon zero dawn, game is great but that took ages to make.that game probably cost more to make than zelda, splatoon and arms combined but the it never going give sony the profit like all nintendo games.sony got the talents but they need to realize that theres a huge market for these AA games.ps2 had a lot of these amazing AA games but with ps3 they loose their way and i hope they return to their form soon.their recent effort in budget titles like crash knack wipeout ebgolf are a good sign tho.

Bottom line, they're not doing anything different from previous genenations. The idea that they are "changed", somehow, with the PS4 doesn't make any sense to me. They've added genres and game types to the sorts of projects they create and publish (both matter, regardless of the semantics).

So unless something's changed that I'm unaware of, a game like Monkey King isn't out of character for PlayStation.

A few of you are confused? I'm not a prophet or a game analyzer, I just have an opinion. All I said was that I want to see Sony do more of this. And then you replyed that it's not uncommon(i'm guessing because I can be a bit harsher on Sony exclusives). I think there is a pretty big difference between previous generations and this one though. Games that Sony's studios develops themselves are not as unique as they used to be, even heavy hitters from Sony used to be pretty unique. There was a bunch of new franchises, a lot of the franchises got completely re-invented(Killzone), and they were really pushing the envelop. I'm not going to pretend to be an elitist with Playstation, I only owned a 3 for a month, literally. But I think I've gotten by in large the same experience on PS4 as the 3 from Sony's studios, only extremely delayed with very few titles till around 2017. You look at Bloodborne, Ni-oh, Persona 5, Yakuza, etc and think that it's super unique, but they're not from Sony. It's the same criticism that Microsoft gets for showing off payed indies like they're a reason to buy a console, the difference is the PS4 keeps their 3rd party exclusives and they're more valuable, but the main point is the same. They both need to seriously assess the repetitiveness of their heavy hitters and do something different. They might have TLG or some 3rd parties but aside from that it's the same thing over, and over, and over again. Again, I'm really not trying to hate or get this post off topic. All I said was I was glad to see Sony doing yet another unique project.

And you saying that development and publishing is semantics, well yes and no. I appreciate Sony acknowledging the need for niche and creative games but Microsoft does the same and people don't praise them for that. I think stuff like this, Horizon, or TLG are the right direction, but I don't think we'll be seeing much AAA 1st party PS creativity any time soon. That's my perspective, and I honestly don't see how that isn't widely different from past PS consoles, although my original comment was not supposed to be heavy handed or malicious, it was just a small statement. It's sad though because this probably won't be a big game at all and they might not even advertise it much, so maybe my comment and logic behind hoping for more creativity from their studios themselves will be all for not. Or maybe it will turn out they aren't developing any of it and they're just publishing. Then I will look like an idiot(and probably do right now).

That would be terrible because it would mean that we would be getting same-y games every year. The devs need to have creative control so that we can get a variety of games. Imagine playing the same character every year because Sony wants to reduce pre-production budget. That would be terrible.
