Its not just price that is the main factor, look at the ipod, thats quite expensive in comparisons with other mp3 players, yet is the market leader. Simply the mainstream audience have to want the product that simple, they don't care about nintendo sony or MS, its about what they deliver, the PS3 will never get the same amount of the casual audience, nintendo have now, truth being told who want to but an expensive HD game console just to play my word coach, not gonna happen, and buy the time the PS3 becomes cheap enough it will be too late to get the casual audience. thats not to say some casuals folks will not pick it up but thats not goingto make enough of a boost.

PS3 doesn't have a chance in the casual market really. Wii doesn't require a large investment (no HDTV, cheaper console), has an intuitive control scheme and has loads of casual games.
One game (LBP) isn't going to turn a console around.
The intentien of the thread creator was to informate the people that PS3 sold 5 million in others so I would not really call it a failure DMeisterJ
JUST REMEMBER!!! HOW BIGGER THE SIG, HOW SMALLER THE ****
Sorry folks, leo-j has most likely left for fear of confrontation. Half an hour since last post.

PS3 reaching 5 mil =/= LBP/ Casual games.
Wait. If no casuals are getting a PS3, then how do you explain PES and Singstar sales? Singstar is the ultimate casual game and its having great legs!
Europe is in love with those games and they will buy crap loads of it.
Those games = Europe.

Btw, I edited my post. And all I'm saying is what would casuals go for? -Wii Sports with the Wii in a very good price range - $250 -Little Big Planet on the PS3 with the PS3 at $400-$500 (I'm aware the PS3 will recieve a price cut this year but there's no knowing for sure how low it will go. Either way, the Wii will still be cheaper.) Also, Wii Sports is pretty simple to play than LBP. LBP actually forces you to make stuff which requires some thinking. AND, Wii Sports is already popular AS IS. It's on TV shows, magazines, etc. Do you see LBP on TV? Not really because most people don't know what it is beyond the PS3 hardcore. I very much doubt an average casual gamer would know what LBP is. They'd know what Wii Sports is but LBP probably wouldn't ring a bell. |
Don't get me wrong, i DO NOT think LBP will makes people choose PS3 overWii. My point is that casuals might want another system, or those looking for a blu-ray player might say oh the PS3 has some interesting games so let's pick that up. I think the Wii is the better buy and when it comes down to one or the other than Wii wins.
