Why do some people get so defensive when the big 3 console makers copy each others ideas. Other industries do it every day. It encourages the original company to come up with something even better to keep ahead of the game. This can only be good for consumers.

So I guess there will be an XMote, a Xbox Home, and X-Ware to replace live?

Ms is really starting to lose it.

P.s. Strategy King, was that a diss at Nintendo or something? If so, you needs to quit it.

Damn things have changed since 2009 began. Here are my new visions for the end of the generation.

Wii: 135 mil

Ps3: 85 mil

360: 60 mil

True Genius

From what I've been told this isn't just a rumour.  Although until it is confirmed I'm obviously treating it as one.

I expect Microsoft already has a Home clone in development.

I really, REALLY hope this is true just to see the shitstorm erupt.

It's a mockup, folks.

Worse than being sued is MS's sudden admittance that Nintendo is and always was right. It would send their primarily hardcore fanbase into full revolt.

Maybe next gen, but this gen? Don't think so.

Only if they make its implimentation mandatory and pull a Sony á la Sixaxis.  If it only ever remains an optional peripheral with its own games specifically developed for its use then the hardcore can simply ignore it.

The other issue here is the fact that Nintendo had the idea for a motion-sensing controller which would come out for the GC, but decided instead that it needed a whole new system to launch with because the GC would still be regarded as old news, even with a new motion controller.

If MS released this now, not only would it not catch on but it would be an admission of defeat and that every last bit of pro "hardcore" rhetoric MS has been spouting has been 100% bullsh*t.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

I agree and will add that it was a mistake for Nintendo not to have enough consoles last Christmas, but an even bigger mistake for MS and SONY not to have an acceptable substitute.

Three questions though:

- Will the Wii be redefined by Wii Fit?

- How will launch 360-wiggle software compare to 3rd/2nd generation Wii software? (3rd-Ninty/2nd- 3rd party)

- with Wii Fit, has Nintendo effectively raised the price of the Wii?

Me too. I wonder what will happen, heh.

If MS does release a Wiimote-esque, it won't help anything. They'll alienate their existing user base, and by and large fail to appeal to the crowd that would want that sort of controller. The worst thing you can do in response to a disruption is attempt to copy it after the fact.
