Google does own Youtube, and your data does get shared between the two services.

I'll do a search to see for myself. Answer the question, though.

Okay, you're wrong. You either didn't search on both or you're just talking our of your ass on this. I checked both and got widely different results. Doing a search on youtube gave results with only videos created by youtubers. Doing a search by google.com gave different results, mainly websites like forums or artcles. It doesn't matter who owns youtube because they are not the same thing. Google.com and youtube.com are two entirely different services.
Also please answer that question.

Then why are people making threads like this noticing there's a difference between coverage of nintendo games compared to sony's games or microsoft's games? |
It could be that videos like that aren't really posted, as I haven't really seen any videos like that, and most of the people I follow don't delve in console wars, as they're quite open to all consoles.

I got nothing nintendo related when I did a search on youtube for "video game". I also looked at the gaming tab, no nintendo. Looked at trending tab and I finally saw a vid on something related to nintendo called "is the nintendo 2DS XL worth it?" in the brand-new tech section. |
It may also be that youtube tries to cater to your preferences, and if you don't follow anything Nintendo related, those types of videos won't show up on your searches. I tried "video game" on my search, and while I got various game videos, I only got one video specific to one of the big 3, and that was Nintendo.

How did you split up my quote/post like that into different quote boxes with the xxxxx said? I've always been curious about that.
To that first bit, I think you misunderstood what I meant or I said it poorly. I was just talking about difference of coverage of nintendo games, sony games and microsoft games. I wasn't talking about vids comparing them together.
To the last part, I don't really look up hardly any brand specific stuff (that includes gaming music). If I look up anything gaming related on youtube, I'll do a search for a trailer or review for a certain game. When i did some searches earlier with "video game exclusives" on youtube, I got a mix of sony, ms and pc game related stuff including some top 10 lists. My whole point is that less youtubers are doing vids on nintendo stuff because of the demonetization in comparison to the others who allow monetization of vids on their content. If I remember correctly, angry joe did a vid or two about that.

Do you ever do any searches with the word "nintendo" or watch many vids with nintendo in the tags? The reason why I'm asking is because it will adapt to your searches. I watch alot of political, fails and comedy vids on youtube. When I do watch something on video games, it's a game trailer or review which I searched for specifically. I don't watch anything on gaming hardware. So when I do a search on "video game exclusives", I get a mix of everything ms, sony and pc but barely any nintendo.

Oh, I just used the multi-quote button on your 2 posts. I multi-quoted the 1st one, and quoted the 2nd. I hope that explains it well.
As for why it is mainly Sony, MS and PC currently in searches, it may be because of the current status of the 3 companies. From what I found on the search list, it reflects more of 2016/2017, which if you look at Nintendo during that time period, it was the end of the Wii U, the decline of the 3DS, and the Switch wasn't released then. It would be reasonable why Nintendo wouldn't be brought up so much during that time. Currently, the Switch is still new, so there isn't a lot to talk about, meanwhile, the PS4 and XBO have been out for a few years, which there is enough material to make top 10 lists.
Also, I checked some of those channels of said videos, and they do have some videos on Nintendo.
I figure this could change when the Switch gets more games, and if you search for Nintendo, you'll find content for that.

I think it's because Nintendo does generally go heavy on the casual Wii like pillar or handhelds. Obviously Nintendo is giant in the market and belongs in general discussion with the other two, but because the Xbox and Playstation brands are generally going for the rather one dimensional "who hasss best graphics!!!" fight, it sort of creates more room for direct comparison
Nintendo is like the third wheel on the front of the tricycle doing it's own thing while the two back wheels fight back and forth. (maybe kids in a car would be a better analogy for that but oh well)
You'd be shocked if you looked up these 'comparison' videos how often they're strictly on the same subjects of hardware specs, individual game graphics, round and round and round
if anything I think this is a good thing for Nintendo because they have their own identity. They do their own thing so well that they don't really have a competitor; i.e. the casual/family market is their thing
even though sometimes it's total bullshit PR talk, Micro/Sony are right in some respect when they mention that a lot of people, especially families, may very well buy one Sony/Micro system and then also buy something like the Switch (or a Nintendo handheld) on the side. I.e. the implication is they can live alongside one another because they're so different
often it's "pick either Xbox or Playstation", meanwhile it's less likely to have someone deciding "pick Xbox or Switch" because they are so incredibly different. Obviously I do think there are plenty of instances where if parents by their kids a Switch for their birthday they aren't going to buy a competitor's system as well any time soon, but as an overall thing it probably is true that a lot of people have multiple systems
There is this weird obsession these days with raw numbers and specs, and while I've fortunately noticed consumers kind of edging a bit away from that (probably due to a lot of technically advanced games being shit and lacking soul), it still seems like the articles/media/Youtubers love to make those sort of videos. Probably because it's an easy formula and as simple as comparing details in images or hardware. Obviously Nintendo doesn't enable them this same easy comparison since Nintendo is not graphics obsessed like the other two companies
Nintendo doesn't have conparable 3rd party support; if you're looking for big Third Party titles (most of the mas market) Fallout 4, Red Dead, COD, Battlefront etc Nintendo is not a competing option.
