Forums - Movies & TV - Star Trek: Discovery Hired canon fact checkers

I've been out of the loop of television for a while, but are there writers/Production crews that can even make a Star Trek show feel like Star Trek? I've been re-watching DS9 from the beginning since I only watched the later half. 6 episodes in and it's pretty much by the book Star Trek. Is there any production studio capable of writing a pretty slow paced show focused on plot and thematics of the Prime Directive? What's the viewership for a show like that in today's world?

Around the Network

Nothing about the trailers make me think fans had any involvement. If you want a new audience embrace it and move on. Lying like this won't fool old fans and doesn't impress the new fans they want.

The reason CBS needed those fact checkers is because they fired everyone on the writing staff that had that knowledge in the first place. Bryan Fuller, for example, already knew everything about Star Trek.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Well... it's a rebooted universe... they only really need to check the movies... but it's nice of them to care about the old continuity.

See this is the one of the problems with STD. It looks so much like Kelvin universe people don't know it's prime. Another reason many will avoid it.

It's prime?! Thats a bold move, because it looks alot like the style from the movies indeed. I mean those Klingons are the reboot types in looks...
