Forums - Gaming - Tekken 7 online in a nutshell.

I don't know how many people are playing the game on this board. But I do from time to time on my PC and I am using Lucky Chloe for obvious reasons and love seeing people rage quit.

But all I wanna say is, that Tekken 7 as a fighting game is pretty bad. The combo execution is one of the better ones, but....

... what's the point of playing the game when you opponent lifts you up in the air and combo the shit out of you without being able to dodge any of them? All you can do is lay the controller down and watch until he finishes doing so, because while being in the air and landing on ground, immediatly tossed against the wall, you can do absolutely NOTHING to block it during that time. So, this game only aim is to lift the player up and hit your memorized moveset in the same order over and over until you won the game.

I'm just using a different moveset all the time. Try to vary my moves so they are not that predictable, so I am not getting bored playing the game.  But the moment the enemy looses the ground.. yeah.. he most likely lost just by spamming his flying uncontrollable body to the ground and beyond.

There is even a character called Gigas which does 2 moves 2 time and you are done. Lifting you up, catching you and throwing you to the ground and half your lifebar is gone.

What's your opinion? Am I wrong? Is there more behind this game that actually requires using skill?

And because people like to watch an example.. here ya go:

Like I said.. you can do in such a situation is to lay your controller down and watch the show.

I havn't played a lot of fighting games besides Tekken and Street Fighter. So I can't really tell, but doing so in Street Fighter is way more difficult. All I saw in Street Fighter was spamming the same attack over and over, though. :/

Pretty much why I've stopped really enjoying Tekken at about TTT2. It's still a fun game and one that I will pick up at one point, but I refuse to play with anyone else except for close friends. The juggling is something I hate with a passion.

I just generally try to play defensively and wait for openings so I can punish them, but I can't and won't juggle to save my life.

Tekken 2 has been my first PSX game back in '97.
Tekken 6 has been the first Tekken game that I haven't bought since then.

huh, I thought that's what all fighters were like. At least in my experiences it's always just been watching my guy get juggled around until I lose anyways

Same here, but that's probably more due to the fact that I'm terrible at them!

If you don't like juggling combos then how were you ever a fan of Tekken. That's been Tekken for a long time. Great fighting game. The best since Soul Calibur to me.

It was never as ingrained into the game in Tekken 2, 3, 4 and TTT. It got out of hand in Tekken 5, 6 and TTT2. At one point you could actually enjoy the game without having to worry that a single mistake could cost you over 3/4 of your health bar and 20 seconds of idleness.

Don't you have an evade roll you can do as soon as you touch the ground?

This would mean that you got control when you hit the ground, but as long as your character is not laying still flat on the ground you can't move at all. Also, evade don't really help much, because you can still be hit.

The only games I played on the Tekken series were Tekken 3, TT2 on WIIU and now Tekken 7. Tekken 3 was a really great game, but you couldn't do this juggling stuff as much as you can do now. Never played TT2 online, so I didn't know about that. But in T7 you end up as an punching bag the moment your feets don't touch the ground anymore and you can't do much about it. That's no fun as much as hitting your opponent at warming up mode without him hitting back.

I will definitely say that there is a lot more juggling within Tekken 7 then any of the other games. You have the bounce juggles, then you have the floor juggles, then you have the wall juggles. One slip up can pretty much take about 50% or more depending on the character.

One thing I say that InJustice gets right is the ability to use meter to break out of juggles and reduce the change to taking to much damage if you manage your game right. I would say that Tekken would be a better game if you could do the same.
