Exactly. Without Halo or Gears Microsoft cannot expect a sales boost. This is probably why they are relying so much on the XOX launch.

I can dig it, but I don’t think they can pull off another console before 2021 unless they are working on it this very moment which means they would need at least 4 years to put out something competetive. Sony on the other hand will have had 5 years from Pro launch to crank out a PS5 with a decent leap forward in tech. MS have a uphill battle if 1X fails to bring them to 50 million. 2 Failures back to back, likely put them into next gen demoralized. As bad as PS3 was it still sold over 80 million.

Crazy to think that XB turned out worse than PS3, a console that launched at $100 more than XB1 and at a time when the global economy was in the shits.

Thats kind of the problem with Microsoft following Sony  Sony is bred to build their platform up and profit off of it on a marathon-like scale. If Microsoft tries they have to be more competitive. Last gen they tried to follow Sony but ran out of competitive softare.  The factor the Playstation has against its competitors is that it offers what each of them dont. When againstXbox it has more exclusive...but when its against Nintendo its multimedia and multiplatform game features. They by themselves have what they both lack.

Yep...the PS3 did outsell the Xbox 360's first launch year sales while being $100 more. Its the brand, the multimedia and format options as well as the games. Sony has the ultimate total package and their tales tell you that the world agrees.
